That's why its called the energy transistion.

It will take decades to complete. We have a Electricity grid network which is over 70 years of age and not fit for purpose.

This week we had the last coal power station switched off. 142 years we have used coal for power but that hs ended now.
And in the mean time we are building onshore windfarms on natural carbon filters "peat land". To achive this transistion. Sound like creating problems to exploit for profit... About sums up the entire Green agenda for me. Greed and Green is good.

Of course I'm probably typing too experts on peat bogs given the all knowing here on all things "Green". So for the deniers who dare critique the new "religion". The importance of peat bogs in carbon capture -

Yesterday's announcement was all about the first payback cheque to corporate Britain for backing Starmer's Party to get into power.

It's utterly sick that £22Billion is getting stuffed into the pockets of the owners of the fossil fuel industries - the people hiking up all our energy bills, and at a time when pensioners have had their winter fuel payments taken away from them that shielded them from the rapacious energy giants and their bills.

The Starmer Gang mugged you off.

...they dont call themselves Tories though, so...erm...great.

Greed but Green is God.

The Starmer accommodation with green energy is based on massive giveaways with the fossil fuel lobby.

They've been all over 'Labour' since Starmer conned his way to the leadership of that party. Their function is to merely greenwash the giant oil and gas industry and dole out austerity to the rest of us.

Entirely not convinced of this "green agenda", from discounted electric car driving finger waggers of petrol cars due to affordability of being Green.

To local authorities hiding behind" sustainability", to further reduce services.

And then latest Government and their Green transition.

It's all about greed and self interest it promotes and lots of hypocrisy.

You're absolutely spot on. Not that the environment doesn't need protecting, but when the task of saving it is in the hands of people who make decisions based on political cycles it's a travesty.

You are right to be highly sceptical, and this Red Tory policy of handing £20 billion of public cash to the fossil fuel industry is greenwashing at its most naked.

If only the left had coalesce behind the Greens we might have had a socially just party doing the right things by the environment, huh?

Sadly, many got turned by some shonky types affiliated with George Galloway.

Fo shame. That's what gave us the Red Tories.

Heard someone on the radio talking about the limitations of the grid . For example you can’t have too many houses in certain areas with solar power as the substations can’t handle that much . I’m genuinely clueless but it seems like a huge overall is required

It's a system that was designed in the 50's for how we lived then.

I agree with this. They shouldn't build on Peat land.

Better not be a delay and get a grip now Starmer and Cabinet.
...another one bites the dust.

I feel (a bit) sorry for the ones who were mugged off by Red Tory promising them stuff like this and then facing daily headlines about u-turns and austerity measures imposed on the vulnerable.

They must feel like total 'kin divvies now.
