I get what you’re saying, but this isn’t exactly something new. I imagine pretty much every head of state around the world gets these kind of perks.

If he was using the public’s money to buy expensive suits then that would be another matter….

The fact that this is even a thing is embarrassing.

At what point do you realise the optics of this and decline the donations.

Free clothes, a penthouse for your son to study. All feels a bit needless and a bit grotesque considering starmer can easily afford these things himself.

I doubt the story stops here as well. I imagine there’s something bigger coming down the line.

These stories will be drip fed over the next few weeks in the papers.

They are building the story.

It's almost like the pals they did favours for whilst pretending to be a government can now pay back the favours done.

Go back to sleep britain, no need to think about any of this, remember, it was Islam at fault in Southport, and if anyone tries to stop you rioting cry 'two tier policing by kier'.

[The sooner putin sinks this sordid island the better, ideas way above its station.]

I think they just wanted a clear line - as promised - to be drawn under the Tory sleaze. That was something they could do without fuss straight away without waiting years for.

But here we are - having been caught red handed - still today they won't give up their freebie hospitality.
Have they broken any rules Dave ? Anything illegal ?

I’m not delighted with the optics of some of the clothing/glasses stuff but the media pile on of his lad staying at someone else’s during the election campaign is insane .

The rampant cronyism of Johnson and his constant hand out behaviour then failing to declare it didn’t get 20% of this . “It’s only wallpaper , calm down “ contrasts to “sir freebie corruption “ . It should surprise me but it doesn’t .

Give it time, there's a sting to come in this budget, and if you think the remedials and boris-tuggers have been up in arms already, kiddo, you aint seen nothing yet!
It'll be hard to raise funds to fill that £22b black hole without breaking election promises or radically reforming tax.

I suppose if Reeves has the appetite for it, reform of the tax system would be beneficial, but it's risky.

The other option is to break election promises, which I wouldn't put aside with how the government is currently operating, but so far they've not gone after "working people". Having already annoyed pensioners, taxing working people would be political suicide.

You can't cut public services anymore than you have, and I don't think the public will go for it.

It's going to be very tricky and it probably emphasises how badly the country has been run through the last 14 years.

I’m sure boris Johnson was in the news near enough every day for one thing or another.

The wallpaper story certainly dominated the news for a good few days.
Didn’t Johnson fail to properly declare it , say he didn’t know who’d paid for it and had accidentally deleted all phone messages relating to the refurb ?

They’ve both had their noses in the trough but It feels a bit different when one has broken the rules and one hasn’t .

"We're not going to cut anything, the warm front allowance will remain means tested, there will be no cuts or alterations meaning increases to taxes.
We will pursue every penny of covid fraud and loss to cover the £22b black hole in the countries finances and more.
The sleaze and corruption around the covid vip lane access and the enormous fees paid with the nations credit card have to be faced, prosecuted and recovered.
Starting with boris' 'test & trace' app, the cronyism of ppe contracts which were often for kit not fit for purpose, frightful profiteering by tory donors so easily signed off by tory ministers, has to be investigated and you, the british tax payer not made to suffer these grotesque abuses of power."

Red box of finance, stood outside number 11, and flash pictures of hester, hancock, and mone and more through the VT.

It is time this country declared war of the tories and their thievery. Their enablers will quieten down as well, so it's a win-win!

It’s just a terrible look isn’t it?

Here they are, telling us about the tough decisions they have to make, whilst having a stream of freebies to help with things they could all easily afford themselves.

Amazed they’ve been so stupid to get caught up in all this tbh.

They deserve all the criticism they get.

There’s people defending who would be all over it if it was the tories.
I’ve never seen such a scrutiny of a party since the expenses scandal.

This is nothing more than a hatchet job by a right wing media and just about every right wing and hate filled mouthpiece on social media.

They won’t ever apologise for what they have put the country through in ver the last 7 years since the Johnson government.

They’d rather double down and instead of accepting they were wrong and part of the problem, double down on their behaviour because they aren’t in power any more.

That particular point keeps being dragged up, granted not by legions, but still.

A means to gloss over the grave that's been dug, yet also the means to cry about why we're stood in it holding the spade.

It'll be a fine day when murdoch snr is no longer calling british social and political policy. There's others, but him for walking the plank first.

The cost to pursue that covid fraud may wipe out any gains you get back. Politically, if it's too hard to do, the message should be to highlight and expose the Johnson/Sunak era and try to be creative with regard to taxation.

There has been some consternation regarding the banking crisis and the seemingly 'let off culture' that protected the perpetrators, to the extent that some have suggested if there had been a few bankers held to account and jailed, there would have at least been a semblance of accountability.

Dirty word that, 'Accountability'. Gets dirtier every day.

There are receipts for the covid profiteering, so the largest contracts and the names on the monies are known. Go for the biggest and most high profile and jail a few and seize assets. If this country can get it's ducks in a row and pursue the curtis warrens of this world and destroy them, then some public school educated old boy network lord fauntleroy type can have the same, especially in light of harms done.

For to long justice has been the privilege of the wealthy and powerful, it's time tory scum felt the full force of the law. If that means someone's daughter no longer goes to Oxford and has to give up her horse, well that breaks my heart but priorities have to alter.

Declare war on tory sleaze, deceit, corruption, and kickbacks. The nation demands blood.

Yeah, just can’t get on board with this being some sort of right wing attack, especially on what is essentially a right wing party.
I mean he’s talking about cracking down on non-doms which makes him ripe for a hiding from the non-doms who control the media .

We’ve got mp’s who have Been chastised for failing to declare donations and freebies criticising starmer for being sir freebie , it’s definitely a concerted effort . Feels like with things like the clothes he’s opened the door for it but the figure of £20k for his son staying at the fellas house his ridiculous. If a someone stays in mine for a week do we put a Airbnb price on that ?
