Why does it always turn into and old vs young debate on here?

The bitterness towards the younger generation is horrible to see.

People seem so ignorant of the problems the younger generation face.

I was actually house viewing with my daughter last night.

She went to look at those new apartments on the Dock Road.

900 a month to live in an apartment thats no bigger than our front room and do you know the kicker? They wanted 2.5k just as a deposit and first 6 weeks rent just to sign the lease.

So im VERY aware of the problems.

Some picket lines actually did f all.
Some did have gains otherwise
I would have bothered doing them again.
I don't blame young people for being brought up in a modern society with different values it's the way it is.
My generation were brought up to value there elders and not think they are a gang of grabbing spongers.
I don't begrudge you anything, you obviously do with others.
Just proves what i said,
there is that difference.
My kids will be left well enough to get a boost in life I never have had.
Should see them with at least a roof over there head and not in danger of poverty.

Four grand off the bat for a shoebox? If it was party central in Berlin I could possibly see it. What's the rates on it? Obviously not penthouse, so neighbours close in every direction?

It was a nice place, but it felt like a hotel, it didnt feel like a home.

All nice mod cons, but it just felt lifeless, needless to say, she wont be moving in.

But im currently helping her look and my God, its depressing out there, the prices they are asking.

I was replying in kind to a poster, not everyone of a certain age.
I actually like my kids for instance and don't blame them .
I do lack compassion at times
I must admit ,and I am baffled by some elements on modern society .

It was a nice place, but it felt like a hotel, it didnt feel like a home.

I keep telling her to come home for a year, get some money behind her and go again next year, but shes got her freedom now, so she really isnt into coming home.

I offered to lend her the money, but the place just isnt worth it.

Your right mate my eldest wanted to share with two of her mates in a flat.
I said you live ten minutes down the road.
No rent ect are you mad.
Wouldn't have it.
Thankfully it fell through and the stayed at home.
She lives in my old house rent free now so it turned out OK.
Says she is going to buy it off me in the future, so I can live a life of leisure when I retire.
Am going to box her and my other two off when that happens,
in one hand out the other.
Ask her to stay and save for a little place to buy and you will help her, renting is hard to get out off once you start..

His kids not all kids. He's provided the best he could to make their lives better than his. I think that's extremely 'in touch' with his responsibility as a father.

Shes already renting a place with her boyfriend, she wouldnt listen a few years ago, thankfully shes got herself a really good job, God if I had her job at her age I could be sitting on a house worth millions now, but here she is, getting stung just to rent a box.
