I see the loveable’s within Labour are now having a go at Dennis Skinner for supporting what he had in his manifesto and what his constituents voted for......I always knew that Skinner was a secret Tory.....

He really believed in remain though. Honest.

No offence Bruce, but how is this a surprise to you when you, me and others have for the past three years (and correctly) all pointed out how he was a backbencher from the Bennite anti-EU side? That he made numerous criticisms of th EU and voted against most of the treaties?

That now people suddenly cite this as a “discovery” of his real views (and worst use that site as a source- I mean, do you know who is behind it?) is almost unbelievable. Do you think we weren’t paying attention to what they were saying since 2016?

It's the fact he doesn't own it is the problem. He wouldn't say whether he voted in or out to be as ambiguous as possible so he can try and get both camps onside. Clearly he would have voted leave, but still carries on the charade.

I've no idea who the Red Boar are to be honest, so have no idea as to their allegiances, but these are his own words and the full speech was referenced to avoid any spin. He's branded as a man of conviction, which is supposed to be one of his core attributes, yet since becoming leader he appears to have displayed little of that, certainly on the topic of Europe.

As you say, he himself is clearly anti-Europe, yet campaigned for it. When it was pointed out that he did so poorly, people took umbrage at the suggestion. Since the vote, he has sat on the fence as much as possible so as not to alienate an electorate that is split between leave and remain, all the time hiding behind rules that are so important he's now abandoned them to support May's proposal. It's chaotic, and I can't help but think were Starmer not as diplomatic as he appears to be, he would have delivered all guns.

He was talking to an Irish audience about their membership in the EU some years ago, who only just yesterday became more important than UK in the EU. Talk about cherry picking history to suit a narrative.
