Welcome back Wayne
Should have worked harder so as not to be relying on state handouts in their retirement. Right?
Unfortunately Gordon Brown effectively killed off company pensions with his tax grab…..

My parents are very near the threshold and are just above it by a few quid. They still live in the council house that I was born in and worked all of their adult life until retirement age. With the ridiculous price of energy, they will really miss the payment. The vast majority of those receiving WFA neither asked for it nor need it. The issue is that those who actually do need it, but don’t quite qualify will be heavily punished. It’s unfair but is merely the opening shot against all pensioners. Next will be tax increases and national insurance etc etc, which will then hit an additional couple of million. It’s spiteful in my opinion, as it’s not as if these older people can just jump up and go back to work to earn enough money. Anyway say hello to all your mums, dads and grandparents…..
No pensioner need worry about the cold weather.
The Brexit dividend and the bonfire of red tape will keep the country warm.
I can't believe you still engage with him.

If they feel a bit nippy they can just go for a walk in the sunlit uplands they insist we have now.
Yeah, yeah, and Ramsay MacDonald’s handling of the Great depression etc etc.Unfortunately Gordon Brown effectively killed off company pensions with his tax grab…..
My parents live on the breadline, one works (for our NHS) and the other is retired. The loss of the winter fuel allowance will hit them hard.
Don't get me wrong, a lot of pensioners are extremely well off - but there's a fairly large number who rely on the state to make the winter bearable.
Stop being such a miserable bugger. As far as I’m aware, not a single person posting on here can make even the slightest difference in respect of our government. It’s just opinions with the odd bit of humour thrown in. Don’t take it so seriously, life’s too short…..
This sudden concern for cuts in government expenditure seems pretty insincere given your previous support for a government that consistently made targeting the most vulnerable a cornerstone of their policy making.Again, sorry to hear this but it’s why the 1997 Labour government introduced it and it was supported by every government since until now. It’s a massive backward step….

If Johnson had done this there wouldn’t be a peep.
I would have said exactly the same whoever did it……
When the Tories were cutting public expenditure and benefits you were saying it wasn’t even real austerity and was a necessity and now Labour have done this you’re all of a sudden concerned.I would have said exactly the same whoever did it……
