It’s undeniable that some wealthy pensioners were receiving a benefit that they did not need. Labour have implemented a threshold. We might like it to have been higher but doing so was reasonable.

Next step then needs to be taking on the energy companies & fair taxation of their profits so folk aren't being gouged & the pot for those who need it is bigger in the first place. I’ll judge them on that more.

It’s also undeniable that UK public sector wages in health & education have fallen well behind comparable nations over the last 15 years & the UK loses talent in those sectors as a result. That needs to change.

I just gave it to you: the government of this country can do wtf it wants - if needs to print money or borrow it on the markets it can do that.

You have the case of a financial crisis and pandemic that demonstrates that governments use spending to stop a meltdown.

Why on earth are you defending this austerity?
You didn't give the answer.
I'm not defending anything .

All I asked was what was the option to voting Labour.

Very simple David.

Important to note that Reeves mentioned they will work on communicating to people who are entitled to the winter fuel payment to claim it.

In the interest of fairness they deserve praise for the public sector pay rises and of all the things the could cut in the welfare system the winter fuel payments is the lesser evil.
She's saved very little as I stated if the two NI were unfunded she could have just funded it back you can use vernation of budgets- to just spend make believe funds was a great Labour excuse & opportunity to claw it back by just stopping it - the rich workers gained the most from two NI deductions -average workers negligent pay cut ...
No more Austerity my backside. - where is the growth coming from ?

I see they are now going to remove the limit on care home costs. There’s going to be a lot of very poor pensioners who scrimped and saved to buy a small home having to sell it to pay for this…seems to be getting a bit nasty towards pensioners now and only three weeks in. Meanwhile the Doctors have poured scorn on the 22% pay offer and want 35%….welcome to our new caring society……

Perhaps not for the 7-10 million who will lose it. I wonder why they didn’t mention it in their manifesto or before the election….

There are going to be a lot of upset doctors, nurses and civil servants etc once they see what is going to happen to their mums and dads regarding fees for care homes and watch any potential inheritance they may have had disappear….

Having a People's Quantitative Easing would be a good place to start - we have the gold reserves to do it and as long as it is targeted in a social ethical way that's right. That was a key part of Jeremy Corbyn's leadership campaign in 2015. I know some on the left are now advocating Modern Monetary Theory which involves the Central Bank of a country printing money indefinitely but I just don't think that's a good idea.

The key to all of this is what Labour don't want to do and that's put the trade unions in the driving seat when it comes to pay and conditions, put doctors and patients in the driving seat when it comes to reworking the health service etc. What have these Oxbridge Lib/Lab/Con politicians done in govt other than break the economy, follow voodoo economic theories for the last 40 years and then every 5 years promise it's all going to be different.
