What I do see is an increasingly dangerous faustian pact. Appeal to the small hating loons, but back track and you possibly lose the next election.

Betray a significant portion of longstanding Labour support and it may be hard to win back.

Yes, I rather think there is. Lifelong labour voters commies to social justice and equality are having their stomachs properly turned. The Muslim vote, often concentrated in urban areas where Labour traditionally do well, is key for them too. This appears to be in danger of fragmenting.

It mirrors the Johnson win in 2019. He coaxed many across, but boy, its backfiring now.
