From what I see from Cooper regarding Rwanda is focusing on the expense of it all rather than the dehumanising aspect

Ms Cooper said the party would “replace the Rwanda scheme with cross-border policingand a new returns and enforcement unit”.

Returns and enforcement unit. Hardly sounds much better tbh

You do get a sense that Brexit has shifted the dial towards big state/social conservatives, and both Labour and Tories are now largely appealing to that audience.

I would think brexit was a symptom of that rather than a cause.
It’s clear Labour are scared to talk about immigration and they come up with these vague nondescript proposals instead of trying to propose how they’d help some of the most vulnerable people.
They may think it will be political suicide to do otherwise but instead we are sleepwalking into governments that are pandering more and more to the far right as any opposition voices are ignored.

Talking about immigration at all is what the Tories want they need rerun argument on Brexit desperate as it is despicable.

This Rwanda bill won't change the dial much. All those who see immigration /asylum seekers as a problem don't differentiate between how person gets here why they here they just see foreign.

Once the head line figures roll in more or less the same, Rwanda bills means nothing politically.

The only worry Labour has is a massive cut on interest rate.

That statement that Labour (Blairs) wanted to open up the UK to mass migration to, "rub the Right’s nose in diversity and render their arguments out of date" is probably an item when thinking about planning and messaging for subsequent Labour leadership teams. It certainly gave the likes of Farage ammo for his Brexit campaingnig.

Sounds to me Labour want a proper Asylum process which is sadly missing for some time now. Hence the issue with boat crossings. For sure most people crossing are genuinely in need of our support so have them dealt with by functional procese designed to help people and boats dissappear. However, as with anything there will be a minority who want to undermine the process for self gain and avoid rules and they need to be challenged robustly.

How would someone from, say, South Sudan claim asylum under Labour plans?

You see not going to take you too seriously someone who describes themselves as politcally center often describes a person's labour as commodity and yet has melt down when Tories see the trade of humans as monetarily beneficial for political gain. And others who are on record, vote anyone but Labour because they state being lefty online. About as left wing as Thatchers little left finger. On ya bike, fun as it is, pushing it a little too far this Walter mitty muse.

Show me the plan?
Sorry, you said that it sounds like Labour want a better way of doing things, as though you knew what that actually was. And it was a serious question. I was mentoring a young man from South Sudan earlier this year, hence why I chose that country. I could equally have said a gay woman from Saudi Arabia if you like. How would they go about claiming asylum that wouldn't require them putting their lives at risk in lorries and boats.

You mean like the above... it's just a feeling, like your feelings, but different.

I'm not sure why you're being evasive. It wasn't a trick question. I repeat, as you were commending Labour for having a better approach, I was hoping you could tell me what it is, or at least point me to somewhere that can.
Not being evsiase just expressing what I took from Coopers tweet, you and others expressed a feeling of negativity I took it more positively. Why would Labour detail a policy again when in oppostion with no dated election be utterly naive of them to do so.
