Would have to be living in a hedge not to know Ali had been deselected by Labour and had he won he would have not represented the parliamentary party.

Thus Labour had not been campaigning for him for over two weeks, so no leafletting, no canvassing, no Labour posters, no knocking up on the day (to get the vote out), no offers of transport to the polling stations, no party machine to check actual voters against expected voters.

Some people like a gobby git like Galloway because they think he/she will stir things up and get noticed by the powers that be. I'm sure right wing media is shouting and the hapless will parrot about how embarrassing it is for Labour.
Labour took a hit for cohesion over inflammatory divisive rhetoric. And its what i want to see more in politics.

However, take your win with Galloway and be happy for once.

Nobody is happy with Galloway.

Rochdale is a town in desperate need of proper representation which is why we’re so let down by the Labour Party.

Every section of the party has handled this appallingly.

Your head is firmly buried in the sand when it comes to the Labour Party.

I'm fortunate enough to live in an area surrounded by greenery and trees etc. That was until big boy next door moved in. He's cut down countless trees that have been here for centuries and seemingly is permitted to do so. Yesterday he cut down an ancient tree that had a nest in it. It's changed the image of the area completely and a lot of residents are angry.

I'm deliberating how I'm going to make his life difficult. I'm currently winning a bid for a used 16" electric masonry table saw which is going right on his boundary in my new brick and block cutting area.

Am I petty? Yes. Yes I am.
You can apply to have a tree preservation orders put on trees, if there are any remaining that are in danger.

Get a couple of partially grown Japanses knotweeds, wait until dark and then plant them amongst some shrubbery where he won`t notice them.

Give it a few months and he won`t have a garden anymore.

Protest/national voting has got us Brexit and 14 years of a woeful Tory government. I can see why people are so keen to keep giving the 'political elite' bloody noses as it just keeps on enriching our lives and making the UK a better place to live...

When that’s the only alternative (and is encouraged as the only alternative) to the status quo then people really shouldn’t be surprised when people eventually vote for it.

I forget who said this during the morning but this is now the Scots, the North, the Welsh and now the Muslim part of the core vote that Labour has thought it could safely ignore because they had no one else to vote for. It will probably be the inner cities next - indeed, Lambeth and Croydon councils are well down that road already.

What’s needed is to actually listen to normal people and their concerns, then do something about those concerns. Corbyn, for all his faults, did try to do that.

That’s been main stream Labours failing for quite a while now. They think they know what’s best for the working man and women - but they don’t.

I’d disagree slightly and say they (the clique in charge of the party) don’t and haven’t for years cared about what’s best for the working class. They’re much more concerned about getting power and bringing in change to benefit them.
