It was always a pointless gesture anyway. Bonuses in and of themselves are fine, it's when the bonuses explicitly or implicitly encourage bad behaviour that they become a problem. Proper regulation of the sector would be more meaningful.

It's not idea, but I can also understand it. The country isn't in a great place, and the next government will have a huge job on its hands to start moving in a better direction. Couple this with growth that is sclerotic and it might be argued that nobbling your primary industry probably isn't worth it right now.

It’s infuriating as they didn’t need to go anywhere near this right-wing. At this point there’s pretty much zero difference between Labour and the tories on policy

I actually think a lot of people would be happy with a continuation of Tory policy, just minus all the sleaze and dishonesty that comes with it

Yes sometimes I think for a lot of people the problem with the Tories is the lies and corruption rather than their policies

Working class people who like Tory policies have been massively gaslit by the right wing press to vote against their own interests.

Why are the NHS, transport, and police in constant crisis and unable to adequately do their jobs? Tory cuts. Why is there so much homelessness? Tories hollowing out social safety nets and cutting social care. Why are mortgages and rent so expensive? The tories crashed the economy with tax cuts for the über wealthy and refuse to put any rent control in place.

Those are the facts, yet people are led to believe that immigration, the EU, and trans people are the problem, moving the crosshairs from the wealthy elites and Tory MPs who are the real cause of the issues to the most disenfranchised people in society.

You need to read the note at the bottom of the chart. In reality in 2019 the conservatives got 43.6% of the vote and Labour 32.1%……
