Huge meltdown in parliament today over the alleged use of the words ‘stupid woman’

Pity they never show the same passion and outrage over such things as homelessness.... mental health... use of food banks etc.

Like effin children

The BBC, basically, today and yesterday, have probably spent more time discussing an ex football manager, and one word versus another, over anything else.

Just watching that on the news now, this parliament is an absolute joke, tories standing up trying to be offended when this government has had nothing but contempt for the British public, in their own little bubble

There should be a law that the public could call a vote of no confidence in its parliament and clear the whole house out from all parties, every MP out on their arse

Little mention on this thread regards the Labour MP found guilty of perverting the course of justice.
Despicable act.
Anybody else agree?
Another politician lying through their teeth. I'm sick to death with the lot of them and this only reinforces my intention never to stray inside a polling booth again.

I’d be hugely surprised if she doesn’t get a custodial.

Probably more than a couple of years - I mean, serving MP, solicitor, the extensive and deliberate nature of the deed and going not guilty are all factors that will make the sentence worse. She absolutely will deserve it as well.
Put like that, then of course it would be criminal for her not to be relieved of her liberty for a while.

I was amazed it went to a re-trial. She deserves everything she gets. Labour have said that her behaviour fell well below the standards expected of a politician, whereas I think she has behaved exactly how I'd expect the majority of politicians to behave.

Nah, there`ll be a load of mitigation, good character, career ruined, disgraced, moment of madness etc etc.

A massive fine, a suspended sentence and she`ll be given a " non job " for a while to tide her over, then quietly slip back into politics in a few years.

...usually 10 months for such an offence, I imagine they will want to make an example. I know she was one of the new intake and won with a small majority, not sure if her background is Momentum.

I don't think she is; she was one of the NEC picks and was one of the local senior council people beforehand (before the 2017 GE).

As for her sentence, Huhne got eight months after pleading guilty and he wasnt a legal person. Constance Briscoe (who was a judge and involved in the Huhne mess) got sixteen months, which is perhaps more of a guide to what Onasanya might be expecting*.

* though what part the sentences Huhne and Price got is unknown

Isn't it a sad indictment that so many people, myself included, have arrived at the same conclusion.

..yep, just been reading up on her. A qualified lawyer and ex-councillor of Nigerian descent. Apparently she suffers from MS which I expect might well be sited as mitigation in her sentencing.
