….I posted literally years ago that she would make an outstanding Chancellor with her academic and Bank of England background. Glad the Labour Party have since recognised this and put her in this role and it’s good to see Clarke endorsing her.

Good news.
She'll make a good Tory chancellor...I think that's the point here.

Sheesh!

Starmer: delivering a keynote speech on the former Labour Party's take on the economy and how they'll develop it.

The assembled media: there to quiz him on the war crimes of Israel that he endorses.

Him and his team have taken a pasting there.

This will be Starmer's Iraq.

The Southport to Liverpool line works ok doesn't it??

I couldn't say as I don't travel on that line.

The Kirby to Central line has been a shambles all year.

First ones to get the new trains which are less reliable and slower than the old ones.

Then a reduced service because of headbolt lane being built. Now it's built, we are still on a reduced service, and there is disruption on a daily basis.

The Echo have picked up the story and look like they're going to apply some pressure, thankfully.

Blair got the 'Bliar' soubriquet; Starmer will get the 'Starver' one.

Starmer has done in opposition what Blair took 6 years as PM to achieve: the utter hatred of the party's grass roots....and it'll do for him in the end, just as Blair was done for with Iraq.
Y'know, I do wonder how close some of the 'grass roots' of the Labour Party are to being the equivalent of the Tory parties 'swivel eyed loons'. It's one thing David Cameron got right, listen to the self-styled hard-core and look at how mental things go. From Brexit to Truss, wow.

Playing Devils advocate, like.

Why? For opposing Starmer's green light for Israel to kill more babies?

What's 'swivel eyed loon' about that?

Taking power means nothing - less than nothing in fact - if you just use it to double down on austerity and ok other's war crimes.

For the umpteenth time I'll say this: if you want to know the cut of what Starmer's 'Labour' Party will be in office look at his behaviour as DPP.

It's not just that issue that makes one a swivel eyed loon.

It's perhaps an uncompromising view of what the leader/party should be. If the reality does not conform to one's very narrow view of what the party should be about, no matter how unrealistic or impractical, they're bad.

And constantly posting opinions on this topic across multiple, often not connected thread, on an Everton forum.

You're not a swivel eyed loon though, right?

You should be less frightened of him than Starmer.

You're going to learn a harsh less over the next couple of years. And you won't be the only one.

At least in the past there was hope before a Labour government was formed. Now there's just acceptance that 'victory' is merely changing the names in government from Tory to 'Labour' with zero significant change.

A pyrrhic victory.
