Well I among others see the only realistic option as a better option than the lying, thieving and hate filled cronies we currently have in place.

It may not be perfect, but it’s got to be better than what we have now.

If you can’t see that then you’ve just gone into full blown blinkered.
The blinkers are off for me mate. I'm trying to help others see further down the road to what a 'Labour' government under Starmer looks like. He isn't telling any lies when he says there'll be no big changes in public spending, he;s not telling any lies in saying the rich won't be taxed more, he's not telling any lies when he says that local authorities will be opened up more for tenders from the private sector...or the NHS further opened up to the private sector.

Wake up, this is not a sea change. Yes, it might be nice to see the Tories taking a beating, but after that comes more of the same politics of despair.

I echo you're worries, but where is the money to do this overnight coming from ? Add to that energy companies being made to pay a windfall tax to help the lower paid, standing charges abolished. NHS and education, but it will take time, thanks to the Tories 13 years of grift.

Don't for one minute expect anything to be fixed "overnight" bud and agree wholeheartedly in terms of the state the country has been left in with the amount of cronyism and inept handling of absolutely everything. However I also think it's reasonable to be sceptical of the level of tangible benefits that will be realised for our most marginalised. I know personally I am in a more than fortunate position where the change in government likely won't have any impact on me being able to live my life how I choose to, but there are far more people who are significantly worse off who need immediate help.

We all know that in two years time - one year into a Starmer Government - I'll start a thread on here demanding his and 'Labour's' removal from office.

Sure as night follows day this ends in calamity because what some people believe is possible from Starmer's time in office is never going to happen.

People KNOW this will happen.
Ladies and Gentlemen, CLASSIC NOSTRADAVEK!

Fixed as well. I'd put a tenner on that folks ;)

After 13 years of Tory’s decimating public services I’ve far more confidence in a Labour govt trying to correct that, but the state they are going to leave the country in means that it’s a long term job and that needs to be remembered.

So sure, I get that there is not going to be any overnight fix, I’m grown up enough to realise that’s not possible.

I’m a firm believer and hopeful that Starmer is saying the things he needs to in order to convince the public to make the change. Once in, let’s see how and what they do.

Obviously, but they've gotta be a better option right now than those in power currently!

The hope is that Labour, when in power, veer to the left. In the same way the Tories use centre right policies to get in, to just ignore it all and veer drastically to the right. I just can't see Starmer doing that though.

….they will rightly have a centre left manifesto and will concentrate 5 years on righting public services. There won’t be a lurch to the left because Starmer knows that will mean he remains for one term only.

Saying that, nationalising British Rail and utility companies in the 2nd term could resonate with centrists. The Labour Party needs to carry Tory voters with them and winning seats off SNP will be a real dependency to winning a majority.
