I don't know how anyone can listen to that speech and think "I can't vote for that". Ignoring the personal issues people have with him, and his lack of charisma - the speech covered many of the issues we face like housing, NHS, public services, etc. rather than attacking groups of minorities and pretending like they weren't responsible for the mess we are in, as the Tory party did at their conference.

Nail on the head mate.🤝👏

Whats the alternative Dave?

Its this version of the Labour Party or the Jackals we have now.

Whats in the other box Dave?
I'll be voting Green until a new party is formed by the left who are leaving 'Labour' in their droves. Shouldn't be too long now.

He had two goes with a party machine him, got hammered by a weak Tory party that was ripping itself apart.
It's his/and his backers fault we have been saddled with the Tories for so long, I personally don't mind his politics but it will never win an election.in the UK.
That was working against Corbyn's Labour Party. That';s well documented. They actively scuppered that party's chances to win in 2017. Then the 2019 election was settled on Brexit...and why were the LP so way out of whack with the electorate's mood in 2019...yes, because Starmer had driven the LP to oppose it and to support a 2nd referendum. The feller you want to vote for now was the architect of that disaster and the only reason the dullard gets in next year is because the Tories have exhausted the British public with their sleaze and incompetence, because it certainly isn't any alternative from 'Labour' to reshape the country.

I've said this before: 12 months into the Starmer disaster and the people on here saying they'll vote for his party will be screaming blue murder...and going very quiet when the question is asked: "who on earth voted this 'kin clown in..."

It's a shame that he also totally lacks honesty and integrity in that case.

It's perhaps also worth noting that Atlee himself, who was probably held in pretty high regard in left-leaning circles, was also notoriously devoid of charisma. Why we feel the need to be entertained these days is beyond me, especially as the example of Johnson is so fresh in our memories.

Not to quibble but I think it’s doubtful that Johnson had much genuine personal charisma anyway; one of the consistent things said about him is that he doesn’t build networks of friends, nor does he follow through with promises to them.

I mean, he literally created a public persona for himself; that’s not the act of someone who thinks they can win people over by normal means.

I have no doubt I will moan about them .
But I know they will not be as bad as the tories.
This lot are not even a tory party
I can recognise
, I can see the piont of view of a traditional tories voter, but this lot are just con men only looking after themselves,
They need booting if voting Labour is the best way to do o
it so be it.

But he was elected and supported because of that personality rather than any great policy inspiration.

"An empty taxi drew up in Downing Street and Attlee got out". (Churchill)

Dave understand your concerns but we've got to get this shower out of government no matter what.. will never forgive them for the disgusting behavior in lockdown a lot a people like me had to have lockdown funerals for loved ones while this lot were laughing at us .I for one will still vote labour it our only chance to get these fraudsters out..bite your lip Dave and do it mate

Maybe if people want to convince others to vote labour they should come up with a better argument than they're not the tories?

Go read about what has happened in Liverpool under a Labour council. They very much are the tories in this city.

The Tories are the Tories - they'll always be scum.

Me or anyone else on this from not voting for the bogus 'Labour' Party that's walking hand in hand further down the road of privatisation and militarisation isn't going to stop them getting in next year.

So I won't had my nose or bite my lip thanks. I'll do what any principled person would do: use my right to vote against them in an election.

A Tory takeover backed by the national 'Labour' Party too.

Normal tory party is long gone, I mean they still have divisions, but the Fascist part of the party has dominated for ages now, the normal tory is too weak to battle back or are immediately shouted down and put in their box. Human rights are their next target and they will get their way.

Attlee also had a near revolutionary transformation of British society in mind...that was his personality projected in policy.

What you get with the Manchurian Candidate are policies that are an extension of his personality: a dull recantation of the market philosophy that's buried us for decades.
