You know that Starmer and the rest of his frontbenchers were the reason that Labour pushed for that undemocratic second referendum last time out right?

I didnt, no. All I remember was a constipated HOC, and Johnson was the only one who could unblock it. Quite the metaphor really.

Brexit is "done", (unfortunately), but IMO, you have to accept what has happened, and look at what could happen. Today, Starmer gave me a few reasons to support him.

Well I am the sort of bloke he needs to appeal to I am afraid. And after the speech, at least I have some idea what he is all about. I know he narks "The Left" off, but that isnt that important to me.
He was never going to throw out too much policy in an election cycle more of building the narrative, we will have more of an idea when that election is announced. And course much of that will depend on public finances. But having a public owned player in the energy sector is good thing.

But what have Brexiters who took over Tory party in which they promised all sorts of things would be possible with all that lovely sovereignty we got. Yet I've not seen anything at all positive (or much at all for that matter) happen that couldn't have happened while we were in the EU.

Labour are showing a level of ambition that the Tories simply aren't capable of.

You mean the Brexit referendum that was based on almost total lies by Johnson, Farage and Co mate, was that the one ? Very close vote as I remember it, but the blatent lies of the pro Brexit team edged it I thought. Well done.

Brexit, Built on lies and incompetence and will end the same way.

I don't know how anyone can listen to that speech and think "I can't vote for that". Ignoring the personal issues people have with him, and his lack of charisma - the speech covered many of the issues we face like housing, NHS, public services, etc. rather than attacking groups of minorities and pretending like they weren't responsible for the mess we are in, as the Tory party did at their conference.

Oh, I know this one…

“Cos he’s a Tory. Just a load more Tory policies. Anyone who votes for him is a Tory. No different to a Tory. Just abstain or vote Green”

<Tories win 5 more years of government>

“This country’s terrible, always voting Tories in, I don’t get it…”

Yeah but he's not the reincarnation of Clem Atlee so we should sabotage his chances and ensure that Sunak and Braverman get another four years instead.

Did anyone ask Starmer if he intends to write more columns for the S*n...seems relevant enough given the 'rat had slithered into Liverpool.

“If you are a Conservative voter who despairs of this, if you feel our children need a party that conserves, then let me tell you, Britain already has one. And you can join it – it’s this Labour party.”
