I see there is talk/rumour that Starmer intends to bring Blair back into the political limelight. As long as he sticks to lying about WMD’s, taking us into an illegal war, and killing tens of thousands in Iraq, he should be ok. But ffs keep him away from any cake……

As long as he sticks to lying about WMD’s, taking us into an illegal war, and killing and displacing hundreds of thousands of innocent people in Iraq, he should be ok. Not that you've linked the talk or rumour like. The Dr David Kelly fiasco hangs over blair, sadly not like a guillotine's blade...

Although I agree with your opinion of Blair, It’s often forgotten, that he was only able to go to war with the backing of the tories, who only had a couple of dissenters compared to a quarter of the Labour Party. This is despite everyone knowing it was all an absolute crock of [Poor language removed]. Tories with contacts in the defence departments and intelligence agencies especially.

Would also have thought you’d have largely backed it at the time.

Indeed, because that’s what Parliament and ourselves were told. Weapons of mass destruction, MI6 report, PM telling us, what else would you do…immediately call him a liar, call the government liars and MI6…let’s at least all be honest here, the man should be in prison and enough of you have even said so, so let’s not do the political bit and support Starmer doing this….

Every man and his dog knew it was a bunch of lies. 1 million marched against it.

I agree Blair should be jailed but let’s not pretend he wasn’t supported by the tories who knew full well what it was all about along with the rest of the general public.

If everyman and his dog knew it to be a bunch of lies, why didn’t the Labour Cabinet, why didn’t the Labour Party, why didn’t the Labour government. Was it just the Tories who knew and backed him. Sorry but this one is on Labour, no matter how you try to spin it…..

TBF there was a large section of the parliamentary Tory Party who wanted nothing to do with Iraq, it was IDS who signed up for it - that was a big part of why he was turfed out.

Yep. I was 13/14 at the time and knew it was BS.

I could be wrong but if you and the saddos bought Covid hook, line and sinker as if it was some deadly transmissable disease, requiring social distancing, lockdowns, self isolation baloney, mask mandates and vaccine mandates that were all farcical - there's no way you would have been critical enough of government to have been on the anti war side of Iraq. Judging by the Ukraine thread, the people that would have refused to support it would be in a small minority.

Blair misled the Commons with his lies. Don't think there was ever an inquiry over it though ... then again he did like a good whitewash.

I just don’t know what to think bud. All very confusing. Can you make up a story or anecdote to help me make up my mind?

I'd wager the people who actually express independent thought on this forum would be vastly more likely to oppose Iraq than you would have been.

We're now stretching so far that we're joining the dots to Blair and Covid. Sensational stuff.

Blair's a bad bad bell and he has to own it himself. You're a massive Scunthorpe that's being fed half-baked ideas by a cult that you hide behind like a mother's apron.
