Not entirely surprising. There's always been a nasty authoritarian streak within Labour. Was one of the worst things about the Blair years and the reason I stopped voting for them.

It is utterly embarrassing, but I suppose they'll point at the polls and say that the electorate seems to like it, which is perhaps the worst thing about it all.

Exactly, being ahead in the polls on the basis of how inept and corrupt the opposition are is not any great achievement.
How many people will passionately vote Labour on the back of their policy proposals? They may get a bump for a couple of years but their vote will collapse further down the line.

Indeed. They're thriving at the moment because of who they're not, rather than who they are. I suppose all we can hope is that they become less distasteful in office.

Thing is, we don't actually know what the labour party are proposing. I don't think we will know, until next year.
I have a feeling it will be no thrills, sensible boring policies. The kind we need, but dosent sound sexy.
