I'm still not getting the Corbyn Socialist Champion line. His 1.6 million pension pot,his chauffeur driven car (you remember the one he wasn't going to use) his pocketing of his 7k 2015 pay rise while those being hardest hit by austerity suffered, his wife's company paying her suppliers a pittance.Like all professional politicians he talks the talk, but that's all.

This is the sort of take that's produced when you start off with an opinion, and only much later attempt to gather facts on which it might be based...

How do you know what he does with his money? How do you know he hasn't given it those hardest hit by austerity? Does he need to call a press conference for you every time he makes a donation? As Leader of the Opposition, is he even allowed not to be chauffered?

So she earns no money from the company ownership?

You said “Mexican based company” in your initial piece; if her firm is based in Mexico then most of its taxation will be there rather than here, especially if she is still a Mexican citizen as well.

Or is your point that if she makes any money from a business that she is a raging hypocrite?

Funny thing was at the time he was appointed leader of the opposition he actually stated that he wouldn't use the car that was provided but would use public transport, very socialist, but he later had a change of mind.Your right I don't know what he may or may not give to those hit by austerity, but I do know of the Labour Mp's who gave their last pay rise to charity he wasn't one of them.

No my point is that she is resident in the UK as so should pay tax on the income she receives from her company or are you suggesting that she takes no salary and lives off Corbyn?

He did give settlement money to a charity though

I'm not trying to say for a moment that he's all bad.I'm just puzzled by the Cult of Corbyn that has been manufactured. And if you suggest that his brand of Socialism sees a bit contradictory the cult members try to suggest that you are a closet Tory.Lets be honest,he's Blair with a beard and a scruffy suit.

It's probably a reaction to several ludicrous smear campaigns. Although I hear this Corbyn cult phrase quite a lot, I've never witnessed anything of the sort.

i) MPs pay is no longer under the control of MPs, so he could not plausibly promise anything like that
ii) his wife is Mexican, so of course the profits she makes from her Mexican based company will be offshore (ie: in Mexico)
iii) 93p for a pound of coffee was actually more than the coffee futures were trading at in the month that article was written - the average price in August 2015 for Coffee C futures (the Arabica beans that the firm was selling) was 120.55 USD per pound (the low was 117.10 and the high was 139.00), and 93p then was worth $1.42.
Not entirely accurate: Since 2011, the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) has been responsible for determining MPs’ pay. The only way MPs could vote for their own pay would be to vote to remove IPSA’s pay-setting powers, which isn’t likely to happen anytime soon.

Try asking a straight forward politely written question on his Facebook page, then check if it gets posted

No, I am suggesting that a Mexican national should pay most tax earned via a Mexican based company in Mexico.

Whatever her apparently Mexican based company does here should be taxed, but only what it does here not the whole firm.

TBF if ludicrous adherence to a set of beliefs that are demonstrably false indicates a cult, then it’s far more true of the people who are vehemently anti-Corbyn.

I have an English friend with a Mexican wife she runs a shipping agency based in Mexico but still pays UK tax on the salary and any dividends she pays herself from the company. No accounts in the Caymen Isles.

Are these beans processed in Europe?

Sorry, are you alleging that Laura Alvarez has accounts in the Cayman Islands now?
