Think the vaults will show that I said if Starmer gets fined he should go. As it turns out, he demonstrably didn’t, and can hold his head high.

A politician who put his career on the line in the name of integrity, now that is a rare thing.

I mean, it’s not surprising that an ex-CPS lawyer was confident in his legal position, so you’d presume it wasn’t an especially risky move from his perspective, but still took balls to hold that line publicly.

Not gonna agree with him or his approach all the time, but he strikes me as competent, which is a big improvement over the last 12 years.

Competent at what, he’s been on the wrong side of every argument since brexit and the beginning of Covid….

Well, competent enough to be given one of the highest legal positions in the country.

Competent enough to be calling for a windfall tax to start dealing with the energy crisis, months before the the Torys reluctantly decided to agree with him and enact his policy proposal.

Competent enough to follow Covid guidelines so as not to incur a fixed penalty notice, unlike the soon to be ex-Prime minister.

It’s those types of things that “strike me as competent”.

Despite not actually making the rules, Starmer knew them far better than his counterpart who clearly plucked them out of thin air and applauded the use of heavy handed application of those powers on everyone, until he realised they applied to him as well.

A man that knows his brief and detail vs one who bloviates about policy without the faintest idea of it's application.

Competent enough to still be leader of his party.

He had a job

He said let’s tax some companies

He got away with Beergate

He’s a pillock mate…..

If that’s how you view those events, I ain’t gonna change your mind mate.

Let’s hope Starmer comes up with some more policy proposals the Tory’s can take, cos they’ve got no ideas themselves. Slogans aren’t policies.

Most of the critics seem to be saying "but he had a beer" as though that's the determining factor, when it is not.

It's a very juvenile understanding of the issues, but then juvenile is the stage where a lot of these Tory commentators have stalled at.
