Unexpected, but absolutely brilliant news. Labour have just pulled themselves back from the brink with this IMO.

Well its a win, however, its not astonishing brilliant game changing proposal and all the other ostentatious Boris jingo that plagues everywhere like a rat infested sewer currently. But a very heavily watered down compromise.

The EHCR change, is bit of a joke, the principle that you could transgress a rule not by explicit action but by presentation or subjective judgement of your views or values is a very dodgy place to be in justice terms. If they go the whole hog with that one, I can se it getting messy legally in a very embarrassing way very quickly, watch that space.

The rule change over membership is sensible for me anyway, as in I’m in favour of one person one vote, however, I don’t have any objection to saying Right, we need to see the minimum of evidence that you’re actually sincere before you get that vote...

There's a lot of people out there that now the threat of another Corbyn is gone and they now have an independent process for complaints in place will see Labour as infinitely more palatable now.

Even watered down it really is game-changing in that respect. You could have had the most competent politician imaginable as Labour leader, but as long as handing them power meant someone like Corbyn could come along and take the reins due to the bonkers leadership rules, then vast swathes of the public would never vote for them.

The EHRC stuff is less important but, again, indicates to the electorate that Labour is getting its' house in order.

Doubt you’d see it even make any kind of dent in their polling

Sometimes you live in an absolute fantasy land, Tubey.

We live in a very, very strange world.

Just answer the very obvious truth - no, it's not transphobic, because yes, only women have a cervix ffs.

Surely she should have been prepared for that question. Its very obvious that right wing media outlets are going to bring it up straight away. At least prepare an answer even if its generic.

So retroactive coup by Starmer, where Bailey and Nandy would not have contested leadership...

To be entirely honest i don't have a major issue with the rule change if i understand it correctly. It just ups the percentage needed from the PLP for nomination from 10% to 20%.

I do get it's meant to keep outsiders like Corbyn off the ballot, but I reckon there are still enough left leaning labour MPs out there to get an acceptable candidate on there. It's a relatively minor change compared to what was originally proposed.

So labour MP's on both left and right need to be more organised about backing candiates to ensure they get on the ballet. It's much more important that every member has an equal vote.
