He's not even the best defender at the club ^^ That's the funny thing. Jags is. And to be frank it's a toss-up between Heitinga and Distin for the second spot in defence, and arguably Distin has shown this season he's the better player.

He's a decent player and would suit Bayern well, so lets cash in on him.

He couldn't [Poor language removed] further off, seriously.

Shut your mouth and show us why we're wrong, something you haven't done for a LONG time now you overblown slaphead.

He's just annoyed that a 33 year old frenchman and some scruff from Sale are better players than him, both in ability and demeanor.

I worry if we ever got big money to spend, Moyes would cock up by buying prima donna's like this guy.

It's a difficult one really.

The only way he'll be helping his cause with ourbursts like that is if his cause is angling for a move...

But why is he clearly angling for a move? Can you sympathise with why?

I can to be fair. He's not playing. He's struggled to get into a side who are struggling. It must be difficult for a player who reckons he's on a par with the Worlds best.

Are we, or David Moyes, unable to deal with a certain type of player? Is this why we fall victim to 'Nice guys finish last' syndrome?

Heitinga is a winner, make no mistake. He wants to play and when he does he plays to win in any way that he can. We desperately miss that at times. Penalties at Chelsea...

I said a while back on here that if he makes Goodison his home, he could easily be a cult hero. Could we have we helped him make Goodison his home? Or is it him? Why did A.Madrid bin him off so quickly?

I don't know. But it's worrying that it's not 'easy' to slate a player for an outburst like that.

I would agree with you Dan if the bloke had shown any sort of consistency in a blue shirt. He's great one minute, and a headless chicken the next.

He's basically the Dutch, defensive version of Nicklas Bendtner.

Pound for pound he hasnt improved us greatly, persoannly i dont think he justifes a starting spot - ok hes a bit of a cult figure - he comes with a big reputation and pedigree, all he has proved though that he is a decent utility man when we are stuck with injuries. I dont think hes as good as he thinks he is, nor do i think he justifes the massive wages he on either.

*He was also brutal in the world cup.

Centre half is a difficult position. How many consecutive games has he been given, with the same centre back partner?

The season is a write off. His position is insecure. Why not give him the last eight games on the spin? If anything to bump his price up...

I never appreciated the logic in spending £10m+ on two centre halfs (Distin/Heitinga), one of who was always expected to play second fiddle to Jagielka and then loaning out Yobo.

Yep, agree with that.

If we want to start players based on their "reputation" then we will end up like the England squad.

Arteta (until the past 3-4 games) and Heitinga stunk the place out for the majority of the season, and we're talking about the best Everton midfielder since Alan Ball and "one of the best 22 players in the world".

You can't think "I best give Johnny H a game 'cause he was a WC finalist", you need to think "I'll play Johnny H 'cause his attitude is great and he's been a beast in training".

Johnny has obviously shown neither, he's been mouthing off about moving to Bayern and Man City, apparently went AWOL for a few days in training and has shown NOTHING on the pitch worth mentioning.

I yearn for more English talent, without sounding like a Nationalist, foreigners rarely get Everton, they don't want history and prestige, they want to kiss a silver cup and move on.

In these high spending times, this could prove to be the death of Moyes, unless he looks at his transfer policy more carefully.

Y'all want a takeover where we can spend millions on high-priced talent, and we apparently can't control a centre back that cost £5 million quid?

First to go in the summer, is Johnny, always has been, even though I would hold Victors hand out of Finch Farm.

I don't blame him for wanting a move but them comments are just risible. He sounds like a kid having a tantrum. He's not one of the best 22 players in the world and Distin and Jags have rightly kept him out of the team.

Didn't one J Lescott have the same sorta whinge about playing LB some time back?

I'd love to keep Johnny but is attitude towards the club is questionable and his performances are largely inconsistent.

Will be off in the summer in my opinion...I'd take 8 mil for him now worries.

It's a shame we haven't managed to get the best out of him. Last year he looked like one of our best players, and he's had a few good moments this year too. I sympathise with his sentiment but he's a knobjockey for going public with it. Maybe it's best that he leave in the summer. Shame though.

On the other hand though we have brought in centre backs in the past from the championship - who have been able based on ability to make the centre half positon there own - Lescott, Jags etc. Even Baines and Distin came from what could be defined as lesser leading lights in the Prem League and through ability made their positions there own. Jonny H has never proved anything for me, he was a cult hero at Ajax, binned at A Madrid, the centre half area was the weakest in that Dutch team at the world cup and they had Van Bommell and De Jong playing in front of their centre halfs for that reason - decapitateing anything that moved - they knew well they were ropey at centre defence.

When you look at his signing, from a cost benift point of view he has provided little else but a utility body - even with regular games i dont think he will take us on or improve us. From a cost benift point of view what we payed/pay for Jonny we could have signed both Roger Johnson and Scott Dann from the championship - for his fee and subsequent wages.

For me he is massively overatted both in his own head and by a large section of our fans. Hes not worth it for me.

Well, regardless of all the well formed posts in this thread. Moaning to the press is the worst thing a player can do, particularly one working for David Moyes.

He is another classic example of why we always need your Osmans & Hibberts in a squad.

Cahill arrived and he's always stated that they were the ones to teach him the Everton way, and of course he had 2 years to learn off the master, Dunc.

I worry when (if) we ever start fielding teams like Arsenal, 1 English man in the starting 11 with a Spaniard that clearly wants to leave as Captain.

Again, not to sound like i'm from the BNP because I very much appreciate foreign talent, but we need the local lads to set the example.
