I heard Phill Neville is a MASSIVE player who Atletico rate very highly(y)

Wind up.

Knowing our transfer policy will be no surprise if we come up with a late 10 mill bid for him to cover for the loss of Heitinga.

I wouldn't worry about our Atletico supporters's sentiments. It is like our fans going onto the Man City website spewing about how [Poor language removed] Lescott really is.

The use of a lesser word will be more convenient.

Bienvenido.

Why didnt you tell us he was [Poor language removed] before we signed him?

I think it's a good deal for all parties. He'll never gonna cut it here and Everton gets young defender who has a lot to prove. I won't be surprised if he turn out to be good. Sometimes players need a change to cut it and I hope this will be the case for Heitinga. I personally doubt that he'll fill Lescott's role as he isn't that good as a centre back, but to be honest I don't know what he's good at

1st interview on the OS

John Heitinga is proud to be an Everton player.

The Dutch international defender completed a deadline-beating £6m transfer from Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, becoming the Blues' fourth summer acquisition.

After finalising his five-year deal, Heitinga jetted off to meet up with the Holland squad but before doing so he spoke only to evertonTV.

"I am proud to sign at the People's Club," he told us. "It's a nice club and a club with a big history.

"I saw a lot of Everton games last season and they have a strong team.

"I spoke with the manager earlier and the feelings were good. The training ground is really good and it's a typical English stadium and I love it."

The versatile 25-year-old was at Ajax before moving to Madrid, and he played alongside Toffees midfielder Steven Pienaar for five years.

He's looking forward to renewing that acquaintance.

"I haven't spoken to Steven yet because he is away with his national team, but I will speak to him soon," continued Heitinga.

"I am looking forward to linking up with him again because he is a good player."

Load of [Poor language removed]. He only came because he was forced to. Proper Merc him lad, doesnt bleed blue or want to play for the shirt:lol:

Obviously his versatility would appeal to Moyes, but I wonder whether Moyes will try him in the defensive midfield role, thereby enabling Neville to return to the right-back slot.

Also, why does he only play for teams whose name begins with a vowel? (Ajax, Athletico Madrid, Everton &, erm, 'Olland)

About bloody time then, has some one got their finger out I wonder. Just wait for the first FA Cup round and see how the ticket sales are managed. Hope they have sorted their computers and software.

I think he'll prove to be a great signing. He has been brought up through the Ajax system, which is undoubtedly the best in the world.
It will be interesting to see which position he starts for us in.
