I like Heitinga. I always have. I think a few Evertonians are guilty of having outdated, romantic expectations of "loyalty" and also for seeing some snidey media spin and running with it.

If you cut him open he won't bleed blue, but he won't bleed green either. He'll bleed sheer anger, fists and testosterone, because he's a proper, manly, old school player. He gives it his all and despite not being perfect, is a quality player.

And I've always said in regards to comments he's made implying his unhappiness, that how do we know Jags and Distin wouldn't do the same if they never got to play CB? You only moan when you've got something to moan about, like.

We know that about Jags at least - I remember him playing in midfield, he was utter ****e and looked as if he knew it.

I like Johnny. Not sure he has a position Which suits his style of play like. He reminds me of Gravesen type player, but with the skill of Kilbane.

A crazy Dutch man with a touch like a rapist

Hahaha.

To be fair to him I think he's quite good with his feet. He can pass and is more comfortable on the ball than Jags at least. Then again Hellen Keller would be more comfortable on the ball than Jags. Still, he's Ajax-academy trained, so he can't be that bad with the ball at his feet.

Yeah I'd agree, hes passionate - very much so, as we all saw against Chelsea last season. I would wager its unlikely to get ALL non-British players playing over here to be quite so "Everton for life" or any club that they would play for. At the end of the day he grew up born and bred Ajax, through the academy, several years as a pro there etc etc, so he wouldn't be growing up dreaming of playing specifically for Everton. Now he's here though he seems to be trying his best, and that is all we can ask from anyone, just needs realistic expectations from us as fans.
On the comments in the media, we all know how much SOME journos love to put the cat amongst the pigeons and stir it up a little. If that involves some "misquoting" or being economical with the truth......

John Heitinga is a good defender and has got ability on the ball that is better than Jagielka and Distin combined, he is talented and a good player to have, no doubt about it, he is actually quite decent in centre midfield as well, think back to the 09/10 season were he was excellent in that position.

I absolutely love him. His anger makes him who he is, and i absolutely love watching him play. Definitely one of my favourite players and I honestly don't think he deserves a lot of the stick he has copped.

I was second row behind our bench in Philly and I was hoping that Heits would not turn around and look me in the eye, lest I s--t my pants. He is one intimidating looking mofo. If he were around in the 40s, Hitler would have went around Holland.

I just couldn't believe that I watched him get sent off in a friendly, and then give stick about it. I guess he gets sent off in WC finals and American friendlies, and no games in between.

I love him on the squad, and he is one of our more famous players throughout the world football community, which is worth something. For better or worse, he adds to our credibility.

Anybody suprised Heitinga is still here?

Pleasantly suprised I am but I thought he was a gonner 6 months ago.

Anybody else?

I remember somebody was running a pretty awesome Heitinga loyalty scale.
