We leaked goals at teh start of the season. Stones comes in and we stop leaking goals. Stones get crocked and the crappy goals strat again. Stones comes back and we get a few more clean sheets.

I didmt give Howard any credit when we stopped conceding and I wont give Robles any now.

Hibbert and Distin don't account for the appalling amount of individual mistakes from Howard.

Yes its a combined effort but robles has played his part.
Howard has been awful and should have been dropped well before his injury.
The west ham game robles was brilliant and should no way be left out.

I agree. The defence of late seems to have more confidence and that's not a coincidence to but more a reflection of Robles's growing stature. Ive said before on here, he commands the box in a far more composed way to Howard and has a greater physical presence. Hes by no means the finished article of course...hes only played a handful of games in comparison. But I think playing Robles tonight would send out a positive message that were moving forward...Howard is 36 next month and without being harsh, has made it easy for our opponents with a lot of his handling and box control. Comfort zones are tolerable for good players....but only when the team is, comparatively speaking, in one itself too.

I actually really hope Joel plays tonight, whilst we have conceded goals when he's played most of them there wasn't much he could do but at the same time whilst we've kepted clean sheets under him he didn't really have any amazing saves that stopped a certain goal.

If that makes any sense I just feel whilst he's had quite a few games now he hasn't had the chance to be a real difference. Chelsea will really go him tonight so I think tonight's his real chance to play a big role.

I'd hate for him to have that robbed by Howard.

I don't know if the players feel more confident with Joel playing behind them but here us one fan who feels relaxed now when the crosses are coming in.

He is commanding the area in a way Howard never did even in his prime.

He is making a rod for his own back here.

This is not a game for a goalkeeoer who had been playing badly before an injury to come straight back in again after a lay off......particularly as the understudy really stepped up.

If Tim has a 'mare this evening Bobby will be righteously lambasted.

If he really feels rhe need to fetch him back then Leicester at home next up woukd be the obvious choice......he wouldn't be so busy in that match as he will be this evening.

Judgement is still out on Joel as a number 1 keeper but not to start him tonight would be a shocking decision from our manager. It's a great opportunity to give him a decent run of games and really see if he can make it as a top keeper. He has done well last couple weeks.This season Howard has been poor to say the least
