Where Sterling was passed in, Joel came half out, forgot where he was, backtracked and luckily avoided being beaten at his near post.

A carbon copy of the Krasnodar goal. The guy doesn't know how to judge a through ball.

But that's OK, he touched a Gerrard free kick over the bar so all is good. Think that's known on here as "Lukaku Logic".
So ignore the other 95% of his game that's improved massively and burn him for one nervous part?

Not at all - I'm just pointing out that a 'keeper has a glaring weakness in his game that isn't exactly hidden because he tipped over a shot or two.

This is the problem on here people have with Besic - they'll rave about him and utterly gloss over that he slows the game down all the bloody time, and if Lukaku scores he's god's gift to strikers, even if he was utter gash for every moment of the rest of the match.

Did nothign wrong but nothing great either. Another clean sheet will help his confidence and he has given Bobby a real decison to make now.

only saw two coming off the line things.

One was offside, Jags shouted at him to leave it, so he did.

The other coleman / stones looked to have handled and wasn't a worry anyway.

Did he do the right thing early in the match when he came halfway out to meet Sterling? Sterling ended up putting it into the side netting. I've noticed a pattern where he seems to get caught in the middle on similar plays. Is that the right thing to do?

No, because he leaves the gap in the near post and he's caught in no man's land if the player cuts back and tries to chip over him to the far post.

You either commit or you don't. The fact he's came half way means he's misjudged the through ball and has done the wrong thing.

I wish he would slide out in this incident, same thing happened in euro game for a goal when he got caught, just runs out nearly gets caught out, stands up etc

either way he's perfectly fine to be our number 1 until the summer. Better than Howard.

His 'minor' mistakes aren't costing us and his composure that he now has in catching crosses, and his reactions when it comes to saving do keep us in games. Very young for a goalkeeper still, too.

He's always improving, already beaten howards clean sheets, or matched it today too.

Defence is settled now. Keep it.

In the past when Goalies did that sort of thing to Roy Vernon, he would just take the ball round the GK and slot into an empty net. Seems these days strikers do not have that sort of control, skill or thoughts.

'kin hell that's more spin than Alistair Campbell!

He didn't have a clue what he was doing. Don't get me wrong, good shot stopping tonight, looked more competent than Howard in a number of areas, but absolutely nobody mentioned something that nearly cost us a soft goal and indeed has done in the recent past.

It wasn't just that incident too - he did it again and Jagielka went mad at him later in the first half for it.

You fail to mention the times he has come for through balls and made good saves though.

One tonight from IBE
Couple v West Ham
One from Berahino
