Following up on my post above, this thesis is quite good. In particular, at least for me, I'm interested how genetics/biology gets perpetuated as a rationale for success/non-success and this is a creative way to get at some simple indices of that. Here is the link:

Its nothing new these groups of people have been around for years - murders and spree killings have gone on for decades by your stereotypical loner - there was a documentary a while back on some bloke in Canada who shot up a College in the late 80's because he hated feminists.

Its only that the internet allows like minded people to meet and discuss things in groups these days pretty much like the issues of hate/racist abuse towards footie players - its always gone on now its just there in plain sight.

The media just love whipping up a moral panic storm for clicks.

Indeed. The term ‘going postal’ comes from a spate of spree killings in the 1980’s from people working for the US postal service. The media (and society tbh) love to hype this stuff up tho.

They’re desperate to link it to far-right terrorism but reluctant to link it to autism. Half of Elliot Rogers ‘manifesto’ is about Pokemon cards ffs.

I am unfortunate enough that some of my work involves understanding what these sad (expletive removed) are all about. I haven't got the time, the energy or inclination to add any validation to their sad little lives in here.

But on a positive note can we not just link this with the "Liverpool fans who wear the full kit" thread and lock down one or the other thread because in my professional opinion both threads are dealing with the same people.

The outcry aimed at someone who spent years researching and trying to understand the people causing a lot of direct harm, and then having informed and important points to make, is very telling.
