Why this thread, and where does he state taxing allotments?
Its where all the angry self anointed Socialist went is Green, and they tell everyone its where its at... And they have no issue trampling over other political threads as and when. So redressing imbalance.

As in life finding more and more contradicting is the Green way. Its more of the do as I say, not what I do. So Taxing allotments was a metaphor for, i want net zero but i dont want to pay for it, someone else will. Why not push more people into fuel poverty with Green Levies just so a few who can afford it anyway get wag their fingers while pimping around in subsidized electric cars, very British very classy.

No one here dispels my anecdotal evidence.

I still don't follow mate, sorry. And most of the people criticising Starmer appear to be members/former members of the Labour Party itself and they centre around the direction of the Labour Party, so I think maybe 'The Labour Party' might be the right place for those sort of discussions personally.

On the other hand, I don't think Corbyn is associating with the Greens is he? Just start a new thread for Corbyn's potentially new party, or stick it in the Labour Party because it may be a split, no?

It seems that Tory propaganda and general corruption have you running scared of any climate mitigation. The poor don't cause as much damage, so shouldn't necessarily have to contribute on an equal footing. Do nothing now, and the poor WILL pay disproportionately. Continue to do nothing and the poor will pay with everything they have.

Will take votes off the Green Party de facto place to go for disaffected socialists.

Fuel poverty is real made worse by Green Levies, there are other factors of course. Green levies should be paid by those who can already afford to run electric cars, not by those struggling to keep warm.

Nice try...

Just because something has the word 'green' in it doesn't mean that it's in good faith, or going to help mitigate anything. Secondly, how are those green-wash levies paid? Flat rate for everyone, even Sunak with a heated pool and several helicopter trips a week?
Your heart's in the right place, but you're blinded by being entrenched in the current system and not even attempting to understand that powerful lobbies distort legislation, even if the original intent was good in faith -- and that would be an outlier. And this, I believe may be one of the major issues people have with Starmer. Integrity and the ability to create legislation that doesn't favour the corporate lobby at the nation's expense.

Just for context, because I hadn't seen this before and others may not have, Bristol Central is where the Green leader, Carla Denyer is running. So there's going to be a bit of a boost from her profile (not that it's massive), the same as where Tice runs for Reform.

I assume 1% is well within the margin of error though, so I don't know I'd predict her to win at this point (though as a caveat I haven't looked at polling trends or polls from other sources). Minor parties poll well the further away from an election you get, and then a lot of people lose their nerve, realise that FPTP may punish them for their vote, and plump for voting for either Blue/Red anyway.

Just when it was looking good up pops Uncle Corbyn tired of his allotment and wanting to tax yours.

This would lead to a Tory majority again. We may not fully buy into this current version of Labour but they're a better option than 4 more years of Tory government, which is what will happen if we continue to divide our votes.

It would probably provide a better option for many.

If Corbyn joined the Greens that might be interesting. Profile, potential new members etc.

Have you indulged in some of Jeremy's home made organic moonshine? Fresh from his allotment.

Surprised if socialists do vote green - the soft rotary-club Toryism that is the major strand of green party DNA feels like it would be too much of an issue - they can sense these impure foundations.

Founded by a group of Tory councillors in the early 70s, fittingly in response to an article from Paul Erlich - the wrongest man of the twentieth century. Face of the party in the 70s was man of the people Edward Goldsmith.
The current Green party corpus of loons who think crystals cure cancer occludes the Tory / Eugenic roots of the movement.
