The GOT Book Club

Finished "The Infinite and The Divine", which I'm sure covers the interests of about 0.05% of the forum (@Prevenger17 for sure if no one else I guess).
1776190095712.webp Confusing book as the reviews are that it's great, but I found it a bit of a slog and quite dull at times, which is a shame given the theme and characters. Needed more orks I think.

Currently re-started The Trial by Kafka. Slog after slog on the menu for me it seems. I'm aware of the irony in it and that it's sort of meant to be this way, but it's just so... unnecessarily wordy, among other negative things it excels at. I'll power through it for sure but ffs is it a hard read, on purpose to boot.

Moyes' favourite book judging by the title.

Tbh, with Warhammer books I've found there's a simple rule: If it's not by Dan Abnett or Aaron Dembski Bowden, don't bother. I'm reading Eisenhorn at the moment and just finished the first book, it's fantastic.

One of my favourite books overall is the Eisenhorn omnibus, it's just so good, I find, especially as it gives a lot to the setting and descriptions.

DAbnett is one of the best 40k writers, even managed to sneak in "impaled like living souvlaki" in one of the Horus Heresy books, legend.

I think your rule can only be bent a bit exactly because of the Horus Heresy books, there's some good stuff there by others.

Mike Brooks is great for ork books too.

Yeah, a few. McNeill and Gav Thorpe are okay. But to guarantee its good, go Abnett or Dembski Bowden. Have you read the Night Lords trilogy?
