The rise of the SNP has made it very hard to see where a majority for labour comes from these days. They used to be able to rely on the best part of 50 seats. I'd be surprised if they get double figures in Scotland. Replacing those lost seats is virtually impossible.

The same applies to the Tories.

All 13 of their Scottish seats are at risk , 10 seem certain to fall.

That is a handicap to a Tory majority before a ball is kicked.
