The progressives should have voted for a second referendum when they had the chance. Once done and Brexit put to bed we could have had an election not skewed by one issue. People in the north voting for Tories is like me taking my cow to McDonald's to take care of it while I'm on holiday.

I bet your missus wouldn’t be too happy with you talking about her like that mate! Anyway, you should be taking her with you on holiday.

The major decisions over what happens in society, decisions over investment, production and distribution and so on, are in the hands of a relatively concentrated network of major corps and conglomerates and investor firms, they are also the ones who staff the major executives in the govt and own the media. And they’re the ones who have to make the decisions. The need to impose their interests imposes very sharp constraints on the political and ideological system.

Two targets for propaganda.

Political class – 20% of pop, which is educated, articulate, plays some sort of role in decision making, there supposed to participate in social life as managers, teachers, writers, play some role and economic and political life goes on. Their consent is crucial, one group that has to be deeply indoctrinated.

Then there’s maybe 80% of the pop whose main function is to follow orders and not to think, and not to pay attention to anything.

I've been up in Aberdeen today and casually talked to a number of people about the election... one guy told me about a small village near Montrose where the people have been stockpiling food for weeks... another guy told me he's never voted SNP until today, just to try and stop Brexit... overall, there was a massive feeling of despair at the thought of the Tories and BJ winning a big enough majority to ride his Brexit through Westminster roughshod.

Work up there now and again. Rough gaff.
