It’s not exactly the homerun that anyone seems to think it is.

So American pharmaceuticals are going to insist we step away from our NICE and EU regulations on medications in particular pricing which incidentally they sell at much higher prices and the lengh of patents, just so they can sell their medications on the cheap I don't think so sonny jim, say the shareholder and hedge fund holders on American extended patents...

Just so happens American pharmaceuticals are embroiled in Opiate epidemic, and have regulations coming their way. Wonder what sweet heart deal Trump can offer share holders and hedge funds, just a shame a country is not walking away from a Trade organisation like the EU, oh hang on Brexit mwaah....

Howls of you lost get over it, it's about sovereignty not wealth or NHS...

..we literally knew this all almost in the immediate aftermath of the referendum. It isn’t something new that’s just been thrown at us.

Cheers. Always consider twitter feeds a bit weak in the fact department personally which is why I don't put much credence to them.

One thing is for sure, Johnson will most certainly be labelled a coward if he doesn't face Neill, and it could well prove to be as big an own goal as May not taking part in the leader debates during the last election.

The thing is though, the US pharmas need the NHS way more than the NHS needs them, and in the give and take of trade deals, apparently, they hold little sway in the US overall picture. I posted earlier that a US trade deal bloke said they do this in every trade deal being negotiated. And get no where.

I guess its a bit like an 8 year old writing his Christmas list, then his parents delivering what is actually realistic.

That will not be the balance of power after a Tory or No Deal Brexit though

NHS will be just one part of a trade deal, the UK is simply not entering on equal terms with America, they will dictate terms to us, bashful Tories bashful Brexiteers, that's the beauty of remaining free marketeers, hypocrisy everywhere...
Boris the 8 year old works for me. Trump the biological parent is far as I go.

No, we hold many cards as well. Trade deals are never about dictating terms. They are an actual agreement.

The coverage of this anti-semitism smear campaign on Granada Reports tonight is a disgrace.

The media are desperate to carry out a character assassination of Jeremy Corbyn.

Not after unilaterally tearing up the legal basis for 40+ % of our existing trade, we don't

You mean the EU I assume.

The point I was making re the US is that their pharmas are way down the list of US industries in terms of influence. They are desperate to expand into the UK/NHS, but other US industries hold more sway. So, for example, they say we want free access and long patents into the NHS, the UK just say that in that case the terms for *random industry* will need to be XYZ.

The US have a track record of not supporting pharma exports above others. Not what I said, a US trade deal bloke did.

But he's lying though. Pharma was the driving force behind the renegotiation of NAFTA. They are by far the most active lobbying sector in overseas US trade negotiations
