Lookman excites me, but clearly something about his game cant be right if he's not getting thrown in much.

Defensive duties i'd imagine

If we were flying you could easily give him a lot more game time, but as mentioned we're finding ourselves under a lot of pressure and his defending won't endear himself to Allardyce.

more like the Growing Influence of the Terrific Ten.

Holgate, Kenny, Pickford, DCL, Davies, Baningame, Vlasic, Lookman and Dowell back in the Summer, plus Onyekuru.

The potential in that young bunch is something else. Not the genuine article just yet but there's so much promise there. @Zatara must be busting veins. Average age of the squad must be tumbling.

Depends on which veins are busting lol

Vaughan, Anichebe, Baxter, Gosling, Duffy.

Can I share a word of caution.
Duffy was never really a thing here, Vaughan is what might have been had he not been a crock, Nobody ever rated Anichebe, Gosling was a snide and Baxter well we don't need to say.

I would like to think we have more talent and brain cells in the current lot.

Majority have the potential to be GOOD premier league players and not much more than that. With the exception of a couple of them that could excel if they assert themselves in the right way and develop right
Several World Cup winners right there.

As of next season: average age 21.

Pickford (24)
Kenny(21) -- Holgate (21) -- Keane (25) -- ???
Baningime (19) Davies (20)
Vlasic (20) -- Dowell (20) -- Lookman (20)
DCL (21)
As you say, Onyekuru (21) will be here as well.

I think we need to keep adding to this conveyor belt. We've seen Gibson signed for up to 6mil and also Feeney being given a chance but I think we need to aim for 3 players each season to be signed at u21 level....not just the standard u23 side fillers/punts but really solid investments,

Were going to be fighting an uphill battle to make the top 4 and so need to bring in these kids and play them as much as possible so that in seasons to come they are a real team growing together.

if we could just add in a left back like Sessegnon from Fulham and also another centre forward we'd have a very strong squad base.

I have to admit, I am flabbergasted that a back four containing Ashley Williams and Cuco Martina at left back has been so solid. Maybe more through luck than skill, but they've done a great job over the last three weeks. Unbelievable! Kenny has been player of the season behind Rooney for me, and it's so good to see Holgate trusted and given a run at centre back, above captain Jagielka and even more impressive over 25m man Keane.

Individually I'd say this about each of them...

Kenny excellent in almost every game. He has such a look of Seamus Coleman about him. Strong in the tackle, nothing flash but positve going forward and happy to make 1-2s and get down the line and swing a cross in. Shows incredible passion and desire and for such a young man he's doing unbelievably well, which is of benefit to Seamus as it's giving him plenty of time to recover to 100% and be fully ready to come back. Allardyce knows he can trust Kenny and I am sure Seamus won't walk into the team from one game to the next. Competition at full back, who'd have thought it!

Holgate growing with every game, in confidence and ability. He has the size to be a good central defender and looks to dominate in the air, plus can also pick a pass and is mostly calm in possession. It's really nice to see him trusted for a run in the side.

Williams was atrocious under Koeman and Unsworth, but looks a new man under Allardyce, it's crazy but a pleasure to see. Whether it is the poor opposition we've faced recently that has made him look better... I don't know... but he's performing well with Holgate next to him. Keep it up please!

Martina - it's mad to see his body shape on the ball and going into the tackle as if he's playing right back, but it is somehow working and he's doing ok. He's been able to put a few decent crosses in which DCL should have been able to convert, and can actually pass the ball decently for the most part. Obviously he's no longer term solution, but Allardyce seems to prefer him at left back then a back three, or Kenny at LB and Lennon at RB, for example.

Well done Blues.
