It wasn't illegal to do business with Russians (or be employed by them) before last February. Surely something would've happened by now if there was anything wrong there. The government were so quick to deal with Chelsea when it was peak time to go after anyone who's ever spoken to a Russian that I'd be amazed if we're going to get caught up in anything over a year on
Abramovich was the bona fide owner of Chelsea, so there was no grey area - they had to act. Everton's ownership is altogether a more questionable affair.
Is Moshiri the actual owner of the club or is he simply a vehicle for Usmanov? Or, is Moshiri the owner but Usmanov had a vested interest in supporting his partner?
We know the money has been pulled, so the question now is whether he still has any influence in the decisions made.
