If our bids were phoney, then Moyes is part of it. He has said on many occasions that he is in charge of the transfer policy.

If he felt the board were mugging him off, then he should walk. If he is part of the phoney act, then he should walk with his head in shame. The latter is not the case.

I tend to think Moyes dithered and got cold feet when the realities of the price tags etc were staring at him.

Not true.

The club CEO has the final say because he has to square it for insurance purposes.

Well then Moyes needs to come out and speak his mind, or at least stand up for himself, grow a pair of balls and walk away come the summer.

He's on board with it all...dont you worry about that.

Truest thing ever said on here regarding that question was "£3.5M buys a lot of loyalty". Dont remember who said it, but hats off because it was spot on.

Moyes isn't the problem like, but he is far from being the solution.

Yep, agree 100% with you.

I just shake my head with disbelief that there are plenty who launch scathing attacks on Kenwright and the other tits on the board, but then back Moyes to the hilt and claim he is our only hope. As I've said elsewhere, they're two cheeks of the same arse. Moyes is cosy for the Board, and vice versa.

What a ridiculously pedantic comment.

You talk about perspective? Well how about this perspective - suspend your irrational disbelief for just a second....

Moyes is in full charge of which targets he wants to go for, and how much he is prepared to pay for them. He works with Kenwright on a transfer window strategy where they wait till the end to spend what little money they have because that's when you get most bang for your buck, and they give it a real go - but irrespective of the money available, Moyes will not pay more than he thinks a player is worth. Comments that 'he might as well just admit he has no money and not even bother beggar belief. If he did that he'd deserve to be sacked for not doing his job. Sure there's very little money (and that's a fact and a completely different issue that i'd stand by you on) but for those who have said the Fer thing was a smokescreen and it wasn't his injury we just couldn't afford him - are you serious? You think sensible people would go through that charade just to put up a front to paranoid fans? You flatter yourselves that they are considering your sensitivity so much when they go into the negotiation.

It astounds me when I read the maniacal and hare-brained comments that some on here make presented as FACT, as if they are permanent flies on the wall of Moyes's and Kenwrught's office, privy to their innermost thoughts. There's more flies on this forum than on a dog**** on a summer's day. I mean, where do you get these bizarre theories from? Really??!

Well let's hope he doesn't as at the end of the day (i) he is an employee of the Club, and (ii) he alone (and even taking into account his limitations) is the one reason we are still competing for a CL place this year and have been there or thereabouts for European qualification for the last 6 years.

He should certainly be saying things behind closed doors, and I suspect he is, but he should never publicly display any division.

Well said

Seriously lads, i dont get the guff, a lot of presumptions here, we had a bit of spend and decided not to spend it in the end i doubt that was a unilatatrial decsion and Davey would have been part of it. Ive been more furious with the board in different transfer windows - no this one - remember two years ago when we clearly needed to add and sold almost every striker and Pienaar. Strangely the squad now is better - hmm.

We're ace so i dont think the level of fury is rational, dissapointed we didnt sniff around Butland but aoart from that glad we didnt get a body in for the sake of it i.e. McFadds.

100% agree with that, some absolute ****e gets posted as 'fact' when it's nothing more than tin foil hat horse ****.

So Moyes had money to spend and didn't?

It's like a dog chasing its own tail. Need money. Got money. Don't spend it.

We had pocket change and went after players who's clubs wouldn't mind a x payment installment over a period of time that would more than likely be covered by player sales in the future.

Do not buy for one second Moyes is only looking for "quality". If he did, why 2 bids for 2 players, 1 would never pull off in a million years, the other we backed away from, and no one else?

Nice rant, but again, not true.

The Sean Davis transfer never went through because the club stepped in to tell Moyes they would find it difficult covering it insurance-wise.

David Moyes is in charge of team affairs, he's not in charge of finances...never has been and never will be.

Explain only 2 bids for 2 players then?

£12million rejected for Negredo. Yet... There are no other players in world football better or on par with him for that price?

Newcastle just bought half the French squad for less money.

I dont ever remember you being 'furious' with this lot mate. Maybe you hide it well?

We only had about £3M for a down payment, we knew we were skint ffs. However, European deals are still usually funded over the contract length, so he had chance to buy on the continent. The deal for Fer was there, are you trying to say it was never going to complete & was a sham?
