starmer threw mandelson under the bus repeatedly with him (p.m.) lying about his ongoing relationship and communications with epstein. it paints k.s. as willfully naive at best, or enablingly looking the other way at worst.

They are battling over who gets the say, government with the big majority doesn't want to end up hamstrung, opposition demands ISC oversight and trust them with both information re national security and then information crucial to police inquiry. 'International relations' seems the sticking point, as it is rather vague, who is it they don't want to upset? It's like the dances they did in the lords over the super-injunctions messes from a few years back.

"Which of our foreign allies had something to say re the appointment of mandelson" - interesting. Who's flagged him up as a stooge? And who's ignored any warnings.
Can’t disagree, the only question is at what stage did KS become aware of the issue, if it is post release of Epstein files he is less culpable than if he was aware beforehand. In either case, he is in deep political trouble and could be forced from office if his party decide that way.

Angela Reynour asking for an intervention to a debate on shady dealings.

I looked a few times but somehow she managed not to blush.
Looked like a shot across the bow to me, a little reminder to keep any tory momentum in check by specifically mentioning covid ppe. If the tories want heads on spikes, there's a few that might want to wash their necks...

Well we knew Epstein was an agent for somebody...

Turns out Putin might be the winner!!

Imagine the dirt Putin has on soooooo many rich and powerful people. It could be incredible!! Probably why Trump has been dealing with him...

Short version it just looks like a honeytrap. Get the pedophile into the White House through Musk. Blackmail the sh!t out of him.
Complex version is how many are in that net. Blows your mind how deep this goes. And how far back it goes to be orchestrated to where we are now.
An whats the end goal. Greed? Power? How much is enough.

Setting aside his decision to wanna appoint the architect of austerity as ambassador to our so-called “closest ally,” if he wasn’t aware before the Epstein files emerged, he frankly shouldn’t be Prime Minister. It’s naivety at best.

Barbs in every retort aimed at benefiting themselves. As I said earlier, there is only one trough.

There needs to be less noses available to dine in that trough and maybe even a public bouncer making sure no sideplates are dished out, for want of a better analogy.

The reputation of the Commons/Lords/Royal Family are at risk here.

Quiet with the sniggers at the back.

Can a process be put together by the MET and Civil Service to perform a thorough and transparent enquiry and overhaul the system so a scandal like this cannot occur again? Could we trust it?

mandelson has apparently lied to both the PM and the select committee. The other horse in the race was george osborne. These two people are inextricably linked. mandelson was updating american finance on british and european financial decisions before publication. osborne was the chancellor, and so was central to similar financial decisions and europe wide agreements to deal with the fallout and recovery* from the banking crisis.

Both of these individuals have access to the same decisions and the same international financial and governmental powerhouses.

This is what has made them prime candidates for the ambassador job. The previous position held and the relationships made there is what was being relied upon. mcsweeney did his former tutor a favour by pushing starmer to hire a labour man for the job and maintain the shadow vice grip he's had for over government for over a quarter of a century.

I don't believe for a moment that there is only mandelson in epsteins rolodex of british politicians. mandelson I expect is easily the most powerful and high profile though.

We don't know the full scope and scale of this scandal yet. That is why the foundations in parliament right now are being made so very tedious and thorough.

I'd say an easier way to guard against payoffs is to monitor the bank accounts (follow the money) of those entrusted with the public interest. But, that means what... also the accounts of the wife and children? the mistress? the gardener? And then there is the accounts held in secret overseas and then the other kind, ownerships of companies being paid in tax havens where benefactors are impossible to find.
They've gone so far as to demand gifts be noted over a value of £100 or whatever the figure is because gold watches and car ownerships were being bandied around. How did mandelsons husband end up copping £75k direct from epstein. ferguson has had the begging bowl out more than anyone.

It'd be a very grim day for a lot if it turned out insider knowledge re the banking collapse and the state support then offered was the profit for overseas financiers that was then dripped back to the lackeys and idiot royals and their hangers on here. Blood money grubbed up from powerful men overseas via betrayal and treachery of the very people they purport to represent and support.
