For every Portsmouth, there's a Man City. For every Blackburn, there's a Chelsea. For every Leeds, there's a Tottenham. Hell, even Sunderland and Newcastle have had sustained investment, it's just been spent terribly.
I bloody hate seeing the bad case scenarios always thrown around, the "be careful what you wish for" line etc. There's plenty of success stories too. Who could take over? That's for more educated people than you or me to decide. I'd never heard of David Moyes before he managed us, and I never expected Nial Quinn to be behind a consortium to finance Sunderland. Think outside the square, and don't settle for the mediocre.
Yes there are plenty of success stories, however to reword your point - for every Man City there is a Portsmouth, For every Chelsea there is a Blackburn etc etc.
But just because the current board aren't very good, doesn't mean that we should settle for the first imaginary person to wave a fistfull of dollars at us.
Stephen Naismith isn't very good at right midfield, but no-one is saying that we should pick a name out of thin air to replace him. We want someone we know to be better. Rumours are that Martinez is looking at McGeady - as least now we have 2 options to consider and can make an informed judgement.
That's all I want when we talk about takeovers - tell me what the other option is. Chances are, if they can afford to buy Eveton, they are going to be better than the current board, but at least let me know what I am comparing.
