…he’ll always be the one who turns away, arm in the air for Geoff Hurst’s controversial ‘over the line’ goal in the World Cup Final. 244 goals in 404 games for the Reds is a terrific return.
I loved the interview when he said he turned away because he could see it was clearly over the line, when you watch it he couldn't have got to it anyway, good on him.

Just watched an old interview with him on the news where he said there was no need for him to follow it in as it was over the line, I guess he played a small part in a big moment of history.

The family business was in haulage. Red livery of course. I lived on New Chester Road before the by pass was built and all traffic came past my house.
One of their trucks bearing Hunt Brothers, Culcheth stopped at the zebra crossing to let me cross and I saw Roger in the passenger seat so started chanting "Everton " he smiled but shaking his head at same time.

….he was one of those old blokes who looked almost as fit as he did back in the day. Not many of that great England team left.
It's true about holding their condition through the ages. Lots of the players from that era held their shape and enjoyed the finer things in life to a ripe old age. I think Roger Hunt was one of them.
