He wasn’t a hard man to like.I believe that I really did hate St.John (and Shankly, and big Ron) back in the day, but of course it stemmed purely from the fact that they represented 'them'. Obviously it was nothing personal, how could it be? I never knew any of them.
As I matured I held a grudging appreciation of them all.

Thats correct, near to where the Iceland & Aldi shops are now. My Dad was a mechanic and used to fix/service St John's car, said he was a nice bloke.....just remembered Ian St John’s wife had a hairdressers shop on Walton Road, not far from Goodison near Blair Hall. I’m sure it was called ‘Betty St John’s’ & some of the older posters on here might remember it. Much different to WAGs of today.
