Tony Waiters was in goal for Blackpool when my dad took me to my first game at Goodison in 1963. We won 3-1 but if my memory serves me right, Waiters kept the score down that day
Great keeper, took over full goalie duties when Westy went south to the Toffees. Had an excellent managerial career in North America and led Vancouver Whitecaps to their only NASL title in 1979. With the expert assistance of Alan Ball and Roger Kenyon beside him. Tony Waiters from Southport became a Tangerine legend just across the river Ribble from his birthplace RIP
