Perhaps not as well known over there but a genuine Peace Maker who helped create a better society for us all in Ireland.

The Dalai Lama wrote a personal letter to the bereaved Pat Hume. That really says it all.

Hume swung Derry to the idea of a negotiated settlement which was a building block to the GFA. At the time of the voting he represented middle class Nationalism which is always important in getting a vote over the line.
 
RIP Martin Birch, total legend for the records he worked on, every Deep Purple album from 1969-76 ; Speed King, Highway Star and Smoke On The Water, to Burn and Stormbringer, the early Iron Maiden LPs, Rainbow, Fleetwood Mac, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Blue Öyster Cult...etc RIP
