Saw him in some tiny theatre in cumbria on a comeback tour in the 90s with some scratch band... utterly incredible. The reason I love the blues.

He was touring on and off relatively recently, saw him up in Kendal and over in Holmfirth. He was plainly a guy who'd lived a bit, but as soon as he started playing, you knew you were in for a good night.

He was a great host of a morning show. Supposedly holds a world record for 17k hours on television. Like, he, genuinely was on screen for 17k hours. Genuinely nice guy too, I met him a lifetime ago in my teens.

He always brought class to his roles. Even film's with silly stories or low budget special effects his presence upgraded the overall product.

His performance in the original Elm Street is probably overlooked / underated, he played a very believable character.
