My feelings also. They weren't my bag in the late sixties early seventies but like you say, it's funny how I knew all the songs.
I purchased Fleetwood Mac the Peter Green years and every now and then play it to death.
Sad news. RIP.

Saw him in some tiny theatre in cumbria on a comeback tour in the 90s with some scratch band... utterly incredible. The reason I love the blues.
