Why wouldn't there? People have to get real here. A few things that cannot be disputed:
  1. Migrants pay more in tax than they consume in public resources
  2. The birth rate across the western world is low, and typically below the replacement rate, so the "native workforce" is declining (and I guarantee that if the birth rate was 3x what it is, we wouldn't be sat here having a conversation about the country not having the infrastructure to support all the new humans being born)
  3. As you know from France, raising the retirement age so people work longer in keeping with rising life expectancy is generally unpopular
You can look to Japan for a country where all of those things are true but they don't have much immigration (for various reasons), and their population has been in decline for around 15 years, such that they have around 4 million fewer people than they did at their peak in 2009, with around 30% of what is left currently in retirement.

Hence why most domestic robot development seems to come from Japan.

tend to find in life, most successful people can be absolutely out of their depth but have an insane underlying belief in themselves. Whereas many capable people are just as equally held back by self doubt.
Often find this in people from private schooling tbh.

It’s a similar vein, it’s why bullies tend to do well in life. They’ve got this ingrained confidence that will take you far in the corporate world. I’ve been managed by far too many of them.

Because workers have been made to feel powerless over the last few decades these bullies get away with their behaviour. In any country that didn't treat its population like serfs a little rat like gavin Williamson would get lobbed through a window for trying to bully folk

Appears I mistimed this walrus of sleaze's comeuppance, I acted in good faith, with the facts at the time and it's cos my former advisor hates me so its all his fault. Toodle oo...
