They have always been very very good at making normal people think that they are doing the things they do for the common good and in everyone’s best interests, and preying on the everyday worry’s and concerns that normal people have, when in fact they don’t give two figs about anyone but themselves and their multi millionaire backers.

Snake oil salesmen (and women!) the lot of them.

They've repeated the lie often enough that claiming asylum by boat is illegal so people hang on the supposed legality of things to justify their dislike for brown people.

Yeah, the notion of “we wish we didn’t have to do this, but we have to for the good of everyone”. They had me hook, like and sinker.

I’ve since learned that only includes members of the Conservative party, party donors, friends of the party, relatives etc.

The fact that they’ve been allowed to do what they’ve done over the last few years with little to no repercussions shows great flaws in the political system. The majority of the front bench should be in prison.

Quite concerning if they think appealing to a hard core far right who take delight in minorities suffering, such as peteblue, is the way forward for them. We've seen a hard-core base built by trump et al that will back any disturbing line that is put out by the correct voice. Are we heading for a similar unmovable faction here?

I think theres a similar block, the question really is how big is it, and does it alienate other people?

Aye left the U.K. a year or so ago but definitely found in the line of work I was in that people had become more openly xenophobic.
People can act in horrible ways no matter what the context. Hope she is ok.

They are telling network rail not to talk to the TOC companies, no offer of any sort given to half those on strike.
The transport minister hasn't had a meeting with the union since March, time before that was at the start of the pandemic
They want the strike it offers a distraction from the mess they are making in every other section of life.
