I honestly don't think that's true. Children should be encouraged to form an opinion based on evidence. If s child writes a letter of congratulation and says why, I guarantee the teacher would approve. Any teacher worth their salt, anyway. I think you're being far too defensive here.Certainly not. If pupils wish to write or state criticism then fine. But this was a teacher asking them to do so. Imagine if one of the pupils wrote the letter and congratulated the government. No doubt the teacher would have gone apoplectic and the child would have been ostracised. There’s too much politics in the world as it is, and it only ever divides and causes problems…..
There was huge opposition to Blair and his Iraq decisions. Children almost certainly criticised him for it. Kids are young, possibly even naive, but they're not stupid
