It’s horrible to say but I can foresee a lot of people dying due to the exponential rise of the cost of living, with energy prices and national insurance to increase next year too.

Old Boris says he wants high skill, high wage, high price, economy. Well, he is gonna have to ensure that high pay thing comes in quick smart.
Was it sommat like £1200 less per household next year, and that is before we see a massive hike in council tax that is coming.

Public pay workers are gonna have to get an 6% payrise at least. Just to keep up. If not more.
O actually think the thing that !ignt get decimated is the travel industry. It's already on its knees. If people then have to choose between eating/heating or going away for a week or 2. You can bet holiday plans are getting shelved.

Something has to give. The pressure has been applied for years now. I used to have to complete a lot of financial statements for people. Basically if you’re a single person, renting, claiming benefits and looking for work there’s no chance you can afford to keep a car or live alone. Seen people break down in tears when I’ve offered them a food parcel. This government know but don’t care.

I have a daughter who has a fairly decent job yet she still lives at home as there’s no way possible that she could afford to live alone at the moment.

It's ridiculous.
I know a few, with kids who live alone. It basically takes all their wage just to live.
If it wasn't for child maintenancez the kids would have no gifts, holidays, days out, cinema etc.
We put £1500 a month in a bills account each month. That is for everything house related and food. Doesn't include car, social life, holidays.
It's too much for 1 person to shell out all that.
Wages have got to rise.

I feel for the poor kid having to live with you… *shakes fist…barsteward Tories…..

What is becoming increasingly clear to me is that it’s getting more and more difficult, if not prohibitive to have what I would call a ‘normal’ job and have a semi comfortable life. Jobs such as teachers, retail staff, emergency services to name a few will not provide the income required to live even semi comfortably.

It’s as if everyone is expected to be a high flying overachiever earning great money, completely disregarding the fact that we need people doing these so called normal and jobs to function as a society. The hustle and grinding culture has grown a lot over the last few years with people taking on side business to supplement their salaries. This should not be celebrated as some sort of achievement, yet it is by some. People are doing it out of desperation and desire for a life where they’re not living month to month.

I speak to many people my age and younger who are strongly considering not having children because they fear the financial burden will be too much. They fear it would add to too much stress and would rather enjoy their lives than bring in children that will potential struggle under their care. Add that to the the fact that people are thinking twice about having children due to the concerns regarding climate change and it makes it difficult to see when and if this will recover.

Birth rates have been falling heavily since around 2008 and they show no signs of recovering. Some people will say that we are over populated anyway, but failure to replace an ageing workforce will negatively effect the economy long term.

It’s an absolute mess.
