Current Affairs The Conservative Party

I mean, this thread just shows why the Tories are so strong in this country. Their voters really will shovel down any old sh!t and still back them all the way. Even when they’re being lied to and laughed at, right to their faces, all delivered by smirking incompetents.
You know what's scary in all this if their was a general election tomorrow they would probably still be voted in.

I dont know if that says more about the Tories or how inept the labour party is.
This country is on its arse

We have almost double the amount of food banks (2,200) in the UK than what we have McDonald's restaurants (1,200)
In the last 12 years we have gone from 25,000 people using foodbanks in 2008-09 to 2.5 mil today.

The NHS is on its knees and was pre-covid with bed cuts.

The total number of NHS hospital beds in England has more than halved over the past 30 years, from around 299,000 in 1987/88 to 141,000 in 2019/20, while the number of patients treated has increased significantly.

The handling of Brexit
The debacle of dealing with the Pandemic
The constant lies
Benefit cuts

All of the above under Tory leadership.......

I suppose to play devil's advocate here.

This country voted for this, for Boris and the rest of the incompetent gang that's running the country. This is exactly what the UK wanted.

Changing it and therefore changing the government entirely changes what the royal we voted for, a different conservative, not bound by promises or pledges. Free reign to do what they want with an entire party backing.

Better the devil you know? ?

That’s a bit like saying keep Benitez, despite the fact we are on the worst run in the clubs history.

So basically what you are saying is just carry on jumping off the cliff like lemmings?

I do agree to a point though, that for the U.K. elect who voted for this, they are getting everything they deserve.

I would argue the other way, the replacements would be better at the job than the current ones. Not better for me , but better at being a Tory and competently running the country in their image. Less lies, less scandals etc.

I mean honestly I want the current ones gone , or the ones that are the problem starting at number 10.

But it's that element of what we would get , at least now we are seeing the party break , with only spineless labour their support for anything. That always rubs me up the wrong way, labour voting for something last year they didn't agree with because they assumed if it didn't pass , the entire country would just go out and have a giant covid orgy the next day rather than put emphasis on getting it sorted 24 hours later.....

I'm digressing.

Point is, how Tory could the Tories get with an entirely new look about them?

Boris has to go , no question on that front.

A shade under 14 million people voted for the Tories in the 2019 election. It's a bit of a stretch to say "the country" wanted him.

But they did win.

I'm a believer in the winner being the winners because if my choice had won then that element wouldn't matter.

If the system needs to change to represent more of a fair reflection then I would support that also.

As i wrote yesterday, this Tory party is far removed from anything before them.
This is a far right cabal of extreme right wing, self serving collective of crooks and liars, who are treating the U.K. electorate with absolute disdain.

A return to the previous Tory party would be a very welcome situation ti be in under the current circumstances.

They won with the vote of the usual Tory voters and the hillbilly / redneck version of the U.K.’s population, similar to what Trump attracted in his first and second campaigns in the USA.
These people are a danger to peace, stability and general welfare.

I don't doubt that they won nor that under our current system that they have pretty complete powers. Just saying that it's a stretch to suggest that most people in the country support the direction they're taking us in.

I would love to see the current way we vote ripped up.
Proper postal voting, week of voting, weekend election, etc
Reckon we would get much bigger turnout and actually get a government that the majoritynof people voted for.
The current system is just not set up for young families or those who do long shifts.
We might them get a government the country voted for.
