Hahaha, new car, good one. What about those that get their kids to pull them to the offie in a supermarket trolley?
He tells the truth. I bought my first house for £19k in Wigan 20 years ago. In a decent area. 12 years ago I bought a house in Worsley Manchester, spanking, gleeming, the works etc new build for £45k house is now worth 10 times that amount.

To add a bit more to that. Bought a 4 bedroom as a BTL 6 years ago. £105k. Just had it valued at £240k, by several agents. It's ridiculous how much prices have gone up.
But no point selling, as only have to pay those prices again to buy something else, if I want to stay around where I am.

Sorry mate, I believed him, just being a knob about the prospect of buying a new car. Wouldn't know what to do with one if I had one like.

House opposite me was on the market for £1.3m. Its nice like, but opposite me, so I would blame the surveyors. Went for £1.8m after sealed bids.

Mad

For that price mate, in the north end of the region you would be looking at some house, good area ECT. Pop it into zoopla and have a look. Waterloo, Crosby, Formby ect, city centre you would get a lovely flat for that price
You would end up with a cracker.
Lots of southerners starting to move down here and the Wirral, think a lot of them have been to uni ect and decide to stay.
Remote or hybrid working as well. People getting London wages but living north. I imagine in the coming years you’ll see house prices rocket in areas like yours and plummet in heavy built areas. Looking at jobs recently and I’ve also noticed a lot of London based firms that seem to be offering cheaper starting salaries but offering working remotely. Going to be a lot of demographic changes the next few years I think.

Paid 20k for my ex council house 20 years ago … 3 bedroomed, front and back gardens…. No idea of the current value but as you say, if I sold it I could only buy similar for the price of land myself with a larger mortgage

They really are thick or think they can get away without even bothering to do any research at all. Im not an MP and I know that!

And to think people think we need to pay them more to attract the best minds ffs
