Yeh, do you think it will happen in the future?
Would he be up for it?
I really rate him

I'm not a party member, but if he ever runs for the leadership again I might join just to be able to vote for him

This isn't blue tinted specs either, I genuinely think he could beat the Tory's and he does a good job straddling the two lines between the New Labour side and the Traditional side of the party

There are people who don't traditionally vote Labour that I reckon he could win over just because of how well he speaks and carries himself, especially with how much of a mess this Tory government has made

They should have made him the leader when they had the chance
Don't think he has what it takes for the very top level, too much of a weathervane politician. If you're convincingly beaten by Jeremy Corbyn in a popularity contest you probably need to re-consider your Leadership aspirations. Not that we can lay the Corbyn fiasco at Burnham's door, at all, but it is interesting to think that in most universes he beats him handily, with JC putting in a credible showing and re-establishing the left on the back benches. Just not this one.

Burnham does have obvious qualities, though, so will have learnt from that - maybe he can go again.

He certainly feels much more "one of us" than even STarmer and Corbs who were infinitely so compared to the Tories

I am just wandering whether he would be willing to put himself back up for the big job. I imagine he would.

We're going off topic a bit, but I sometimes wonder what would have happened if Burnham had been elected Labour leader in 2015. For one thing, the EU Referendum would probably have been a narrow "Remain" victory, with Burnham backing the EU fully rather than Corbyn's very lukewarm support. UKIP would have still been a major thorn in the Tories' side, so Labour might even have won a General Election in 2019; just speculation, of course.

The only differences in that scenario is that Leave would have won by more (given that the problem was the official campaign, not Corbyn’s separation from it), and then the Labour right + Watson er al would have had the same go at Burnham that they had at Corbs. Burnham would probably have resigned when he got the no confidence vote too, and there would have been chaos.

Yeah it was a massive, tragic missed opportunity in light of how events unfolded. I don't remember Burnham doing anything manifestly wrong in that contest, perhaps he thought it was a tap in (should have been tbh) and he didn't have to take any risks, but he ended up looking like the face of bland consensus next to JC's more animated message.

Feel sorry for anyone getting to working age in the next few years, between COVID and Brexit, things aren’t looking great.

“Don’t chase your dreams, do the 9-5 grind for the good of the state!”

Pure dystopia.

Nothing to do with the Government apparently, their sophistry knows no bounds.

If anyone in the North had any doubt that the Tories don’t care about it, I hope recent events have changed that.

At the next available opportunity, this scum must be voted out.
