Very interesting article.

In the UK we have an over powerful Executive with little brake on its power when there is a substantial majority in Parliament. With an unwritten constitution, so much of which is based on standards of behaviour and honour, shamelessness gets you very far.

Factor in a compliant press, the ability to stir up the ongoing culture wars, the ease with which misinformation is spread and an acceptance by so many of the public that the system and the people who run it are rotten, but believing they are on their side and what is important is "winning", and you have our current situation.
